| said: After reading the previous reports I was a bit worried about going to Altamar. This is now mostly a residential complex so there are only a few of the owners who rent their properties out. The complex is clean and tidy and the duplex we rented was lovely.
It has been renovated and has full kitchen, washing machine, which was a godsend, 2 bedrooms and a terrace which overlooked the pool. The house was very clean and we got the linen and towels changed 3 times during our 2 week stay.
No cleaning was done during our stay but I suppose it was self catering. The owners said we could get cleaners in at an extra charge but we thought we would rather pay less and do our own cleaning.
All in all I would highly recommend this complex, it is central but quiet and although there are no restaurants or bars there are plenty as soon as you step outside the complex.
Booked again for next Xmas, can't wait.

| said: We packed our bags and set off for our annual holiday with friends and family all excited. When we pulled up outside the kids were jumping around, we got to the reception some grumpy man to greet us, we thought "Well don’t let that get us down the hotel might be lovely." Oh how wrong we were, cracked tiles, cold food, dogs swimming, infested with rats, arrogant staff, and that’s just a few to get you started, oh and I won't forget the amount of prostitutes near by!!
We had a lot of kids with us and they all wanted to go swimming. No way is any child of mine let alone me going bare footed across that pool side, and the pool might I say brown, and a funny smell of sewage! We complained several times we were just ignored or shooed away.
We spent our first night in the cramped rooms, with 3 inches of mould and lime scale in the shower enough was enough my kids were crying I was crying! We awoke at six the next morning and demanded to be moved hotels immediately!!
I would not go back to that hell hole even if you paid me!!!!

| said: Now where should I start...initially you walk into the ALtemar and think..."ok not bad", then as you turn the corner it gets progressively worse to the point where you wonder why you ever picked up a brochure in the first place. The apartments are sparcely furnished with dirty and worn furniture, the security is a joke, you lock the patio door and can still open it from the outside with a mimimal tug (our 4 yr old was more than capable of doing it), there is an average pool, the poolside was dirty with more cracked tiles than I cared to count. You are literally a stones throw away from linekers and the likes...thats all well and good for a young free and single holiday but when you have 2 young kids its a different matter all together. At this point I should add the travel agent I booked through told us this property was at the quieter end of the resort!!! The staff are unhelpful and downright rude. The best thing that could happen to this apartment block would be demolition!!! We insisted on being moved after the 2 nd day and enjoyed the rest of our holiday at the Colon 2!

| said: This is the most disgusting place I have ever been in my entire life, its dirty its got terrible staff and worst of all a hookers lot outside.
My kids were not allowed anywhere near the pool because the state the hotel was in. I didn't want to know what was in the pool, never mind the amount of wild cats and the occasional swimming scuffy dog. We moved hotels within 24 hours.

| said: It was just so filthy we were shocked that anyone could stay here. It should be knocked to the ground. I hope I can spare anyone the grief we had here, unhelpfull staff, doors don't lock, cockroaches and filthy kitchens like nothing you can imagine. My kids were crying and all emotional as they thought we were brining them on a nice vacation. As an adult it was sole destroying to see your children this way in what should be happy times. The gentleman at reception was very grumpy(many complaints!) and there were steps everywhere and the apts had 3 levels. Not suitable for buggies. Wh had booked what we expected to be cheaper accommodation and had no huge expectation, but when we arrived ! oh boy it was so bad. No one with any standards could stay here. On the + side there is a nice Restaurant around the corner called Michaelangello's or something like that. Be warned it is a hookers pick-up area outside the apartments. A friend had stayed in the newer part and found that ok ??. We did not stay long enough to see the pool and by the way the place is full of wild cats, well it will keep the rats away. I kidd you not !!!!!
