The hotel is very impressive upon arrival. The reception staff were efficient and dealt with our queries promptly.
The hotel is very clean but maybe the corridors could do with a lick of paint. Our room, 442, was excellent and the balcony was fantastic!! 2 sun loungers with plenty of room to spare. We had specifically asked for a room wit a sunny afternoon balcony and that is just what we got. The food was good and there was plenty for everyone. It was fresh and was always been tended to. The entertainment was ok - some better than others.

Was a bit apprehensive after reading the reviews about this hotel.but what a lovely surprise when we arrived.its a beautiful hotel and definitely worth its 4 star rating, the room was cleaned everyday, all the staff were very happy to help and nothing was too much trouble, the food was gorgeous and we are both fussy eaters, plenty of choice and delicious too.its location is only 5 mins away from the beach,it was our 1st holiday in tenerife and we both loved the place and hotel,so booking for next year!! I recommend this hotel to anyone going to tenerife and cant understand how anyone could complain about it

After reading reviews of this hotel, I was not sure what to expect. I had nothing to worry about. First impressions of the hotel were very impressive.

The entrance was lovely, very clean, spacious and decorated to a high standard. The rooms were of a good size, decorated well, very clean, rooms were cleaned each day to a high standard.

We had a lovely view overlooking the pool. Location was excellent, only a five min walk to the beach, and to the excellent safari shopping centre, girls, this is the place to shop.

Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Food in the hotel was lovely, plenty of choice and variety each morning and evening, even for the most fussy of eaters. Each night there was different entertainment on in hotel bar, from quizzes, dance shows, singers to magic shows, something to suit everybody's taste.

The only thing I would say is that the pool is not as big as it made out to look the holiday brochure. I would recommend this hotel, and would certainly stay here again.

We recently returned from the Tenerife Princess and would definately rate it as a 4 star. like all hotels it has it's bad points, however overall we had a fantastic holiday. The rooms at the hotel are extremely large and the bathroom has been newly refurbished.

The hotel resteraunt served a wide variety of food and also had a show cooking section which provided a choice of fresh fish, a carvery and vegetarian selection every night in addition to a range of other cooked dishes and salad etc. Although the food was enjoyable, we have however stayed at other 4 star hotels where the food has been of a much higher standard. However we ate out for breakfast on most days purely down to the fact that we are not personally fans of continental spanish breakfast.

Arrived 10pm on a Saturday night. Reception staff very helpful, even though there was a small queue to deal with they asked if I required a second room key (no charge) so I then arranged a safe as well(approx £13 for a week but you get £2 back on return of the key).

Rooms are very clean though a little dated but along with the white towels you get a brown towel per person for use around the pool, these can be changed for 1.2euro at the pool office.

Food is great plenty to choose from on 2 galleries and a further 2 for sweets, oh and it’s not all in sauces. The chefs also cook on demand at one end of the restaurant.

Pool opens at 8.30am no rush for beds there is plenty unless you want a specific spot. Only the shallow pool is heated, the other where the swing bridge and waterfall is can be chilly but me and my sons got quite used to it. 3 double ice creams around the pool cost approx £5.30p yes that is correct and a pint of lager in the hotel 3.4euro which is £2.40p.

We found a little Scottish bar next to a small Chinese restaurant where Worthington’s was £2.10p,food around pool reasonably priced as we compared it to places outside and you got more for your money at the hotel, there is a MacDonald’s down the road, my eldest was shocked at the massive amount you got there he says best one he has ever had.

We got back on a night to watch the entertainment at about 9pm to get a good seat. Some very good shows, chinese circus, gauchos, singers, knife thrower, well worth seeing.

There were 5 computers next to reception 1euro for 1omins. Don’t book any trips with the reps reception have leaflets and will sort you out, specially a trip up the volcano "Mount Teide" only 1/3 the price, enough said.

My first visit to Tenerife found it clean, plenty of up market shops etc but quite expensive.

Would definitely use this hotel again.

Having read one or two adverse reports on this hotel we were a little apprehensive, however we found the Princess to be absolutely brilliant.

It was exceptionally clean, the staff very helpful, the rooms lovely and the pool and grounds very pretty indeed.

The entertainment was good and the animation team were superb.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone it was great.

Hotel was very clean and efficiently run. Food was very good but prices for drinks with evening meal (which you were expected to purchase or be ignored by the waiters) were expensive as were the bar drinks.

German and Dutch guests had the option of all inclusive which was not available to the English hence not many English stayed in the hotel on a night time to watch the entertainment.

Day time activities were offered every hour provided by happy helpful entertainment staff. There were plenty of sunbeds available around the pool with the usual early morning stampede, however the pool staff did issue warning letters to persistent offenders and on one occasion actually removed towels. Rooms and towels cleaned daily.

Hotel corridors could do with dirty ceiling tiles changing and woodwork scuffs re-varnishing. Would definitely recommend and would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel.

This is the third visit to the Tenerife Princess and it won't be the last. The rooms were clean and tidy, the hotel in general was spotless. There was plenty of choice of food for both breakfast and evening meal. All the English guests seemed to moan about the speed of the toasters at breakfast, all I can assume is that they were in a rush to reserve a lounger by the pool. We only stayed by the pool one day and had no trouble getting a lounger. The staff were always helpful and I recognised many faces from previous visits

We had previously read negative reviews on the hotel but on arrival our fears were instantly dispelled.

We found the hotel to be very clean, our room was excellent (room 325 overlooking the pool area). The only thing we would say is that the woodwork in the corridors could do with a coat of varnish!!

The food in the restaurant was plentiful and varied to suit everyone's taste. The location was excellent it was 5 mins to the sea and 10 mins to the centre of Las Americas and about 15-20 mins to Los Cristianos.

The staff were very friendly and very helpful, having had difficulty opening the safe and a faulty light bulb, both were fixed within 30 mins. The entertainment was varied, typcial hotel entertainment. It took place in the pool area but finished at 12 o'clock. We would most certainly go back to this hotel.

As with all hotels drinks tended to be fairly expensive apart from Happy Hour! However, the Budha Cocktail Bar located next door was even more expensive!

Overall we had a most enjoyable 14 days holiday.

Having booked the Tenerife Princess after staying in several others over the last few years, we were expecting something a lot better than we found.

After refusing the first room we were offered 136 looking out onto the top of a thatched roof which was the pool eating bar with a lot of trees and plants surrounding us and a large balcony with planters full of cigarette ends and rubbish.
We asked to be moved to another floor, we were told that they had given us a pool view, we couldn't even see the pool from the room.

They finally gave us a room on the 5th floor with sea views which looked lovely at 8.00pm so we accepted and unpacked.

We then went down for evening meal, this meal and all further meals we found very unappetising and only luke warm very dissapointing.

When we returned to our room around 11.30pm the smell from the bathroom was terrible you could hardly breathe, so we left the door open and the air conditioning on until the morning.
We reported this to the reception and also to the reps.
Three days later we were told they were unable to find anything wrong, so this problem we had to live with for the 14 days we were there. The toilet seat was broken and never repaired either.

There were about 25-30 of us with tummy bugs during our stay some people in bed for two to three days, only at this hotel.

Pool area was dirty, and if you stayed too long in the afternoon you were ushered into a small section so that the tables could be laid for the evening entertainment.

Drink prices were extortionate, 12 euros 40 cents for 2 vodka & cokes.

I would never use this hotel again and certainly wouldn't recommend it to anybody else.

It should be rated a 3 star.

We have just returned from a holiday staying at the Tenerife Princess, a Platinum Hotel.
The highest rating I would give is 3 star.

Food is only kept warm and very repetitive, not much choice as far as deserts are concerned. The main course obtained either from the serving area , or from the chefs which are cooking it at throwing it into large dishes for you to help yourself, don't try and ask for anything to be well done they just keep pointing to the ones that are half cooked.

While we were staying at the hotel there was always a smell of dirty drains coming from the bathroom which we complained about and they said they would put it right but it never happened.

About 25 - 30 people had stomach trouble and either in bed or had to stay around the hotel for about 3 days. When we reported it to the rep, she told us to go to the chemist and ask something that they had never heard of.

During our stay 14 days the waterfall was not working at all and not much attempt was made to repair it.

Loads of cockroaches running around the pool area during the day and night.

Entertainment was outside around the pool that was rubbish, and the people who had so called pool views could hear the waiters dragging chairs around at 12.00 midnight, so if you want an early night don,t request a pool view.

And the happy hour is 4 till 5.pm We had a good holiday but would not stay at this hotel again.

I would not stay at this hotel again if it was given to me for free, during my stay there were a lot of people ill with tummy bugs and quite a few complaining about the food being only warm.

The deserts were the same every night and as long as you like sponge cake, blackberries or tin fruit you were ok. The waterfall was not working for thetwo weeks that I was there and no attempt to repair it was apparent.

The pool didn't seem to be getting cleaned to often either.
It appears that you can go all inclusive in this hotel if you book from Thomson Tui in Germany as all the German Guests had armbands.

I think this hotel should be no more than a 3 star for what it has to offer.

I have just returned from a holiday to this hotel, what a mistake i made when choosing this one.

The first thing i noticed that was all the German guests were all inclusive, when i questioned this nobody could give me any answers.

The second was the terrible drainage smell in the room 509 reported to reception several times but nothing done about it for the 14 days i was there i had to leave the door open at all times otherwise you couldn't breathe.

The waterfall wasn't working the whole holiday, and the pool area didn't seem to be getting cleaned very much, don't ask what happened to the pool attendant that you were supposed to go to to change towels i didn't find him at all.

The food was plentifull, but only luke warm and not much of a selection.

The drink prices were extortionate 12 euros 40 cents for two vodka tonics, happy hour is 4.tll 5pm only in the cocktail bar not at the pool bar, another rip off.

This is my 6th time in Tenerife and i wouldn't use this hotel again on a free holiday.

I have been on many holidays abroad, but this has to be the best so far! Firstly, the cleanliness was absolutely brilliant..not a patch of dirt! It was really, really clean. There's a cute little hotel cat that walks by the indoor ponds, which definately assures you that there are no mice/rats!! 100% full marks for cleanliness.

Secondly, the hotel food was out of this world. Fabulous, in a word. Every option for every person..you just could not fought the food! Not the same every night, it was very varied indeed. Sometimes Chinese, sometimes Mexican. If you didn't like the main dish there was always an alternative, which just made you want to skip laying round the pool and rush to the indoor restaurant! Very enjoyable!

The location was brilliant, too. Definately 5 stars for that! <<< The hotel is 10 minutes on the coach away from the airport, if that, and it is based right in the middle of everything! The beach is right behind it (about 10 minutes walk), and their are bars, clubs, shops and restaurants all over. In fact, I wouldn't wish for a better location! Right on top of everything, we found that every road near enough leads back to our hotel..so don't worry about getting lost! Playa De Las Americas is probably the most lively place in the whole of Tenerife, however if you prefer the quiet life you may as well stay in the hotel of a night time.

The hotel staff were magnificent! And I am not exaggerating, they were all so friendly. Our shower broke as it was on full power (modernisation took place!) and the staff were over within 30 minutes to fix it! Also a member of my family accidently locked the safe and broke it, and the receptionist dashed over in a hurry to fix it! You cant go wrong with the staff, they devote their time there to help the guests!

The only down side was the entertainment, and it was absolutely rubbish. I was aware that it would be a bit on the low side ever since I read other reviews before I went away. But every night, if you're expecting a show that is pictured on a drawing board in the hotel, you may as well go out. There was one night in which I saw a decent show, which was dressed up hula dancers balancing chairs on their chins! But if you are looking for a decent night life my advice would be to hit the town. There are so many places to explore while away, so you really don't want to be stuck in the hotel of a night, believe me.

I would definately visit this hotel again, in fact my mum has already booked up a weeks holiday to this exact place in January! It is an extroadinary place to visit, and I am ashamed that people have given such low marks. I'm not one for exaggerating, but this is such a wonderful place and those who have put it down have really upset me!

Thanks to everyone who'd posted on this site having given to us a little preview of what we were to experience.

Yes, I fully agree that the hotel is a little dated and run down and in need of modernisation. That said, it's very clean and food is plentiful in choice and is of a good standard and there is something for everyone, including cereal and continental breakfast for sleep ins till 11am.

However fussy you are, there is always something to make a good meal and you've no excuse to go hungry ! The rooms are enormous of a fair standard. We only had a tricky shower and an occasionally working TV.

The staff made a big effort to ensure that everyone was happy and problems noted above were dealt with normally within the hour. This hotel is clearly a four star that needs a modernisation programme to hold this four star rating.

Avoid your reps tour programme of highly priced excursions. . . . go to the local underground shopping center and speak to the English Lady in the travel agents. She will provide you with a great exchange rate if you want it and you'll find the same excursions that are far far cheaper and at the same quality.

With regards to the time share scratch card touts, avoid them like the plague. They are rude and aggresive despite giving them a polite No Thanks. They are quite happy to ruin your holiday and sadly, they are British.

Have a good holiday !

This hotel the Tenerife Princess is definatly not four star and certainaly not platinum that word is a joke and it should be classed as a shabby 2 star.

The shower didn't work we were offered a room over the dumping ground another room offered was looking over a supermarket with all broken sun blind dumped on the floor there was all rust around the plug hole in bath all stains on the furniture, cockroches running around the room, holes in the bedroom door, the lock hanging off the wardrobe door, no ceiling lights, only lamps very dingey the corridors were all shabby with lumps of plaster missing all tar on doors and walls.

The gym had three piece's of equipment for a hotel of that size it was a joke, some nights the food was good other nights very sloppy and removing you're plate if you blinked you're eyes they just wanted you in and out as soon as posslble and they were clearing the breakfast away by 9 - 45 if you didn't get your coffee as soon as you went in they would turn the machine's off before you ate your food.

So you would have a tea or a coffee everyday there was peolpe moaning about the hotel everybody we talked to was complaining and said they would never go there again as the hotel is nothing like it says in the brouchure please read all other comments so you don't get a dissapointment like we had.

I could go on and on but it would take to long.

The hotel was very clean, we wasn't too keen on the room location as we looked out into the back of the hotel building site as they were changing the air conditioning and all of the pipes and boxes were out side.

When we had time to look around were could see that most of the rooms did not have a good out look as we were well away from the sea .

But I can honestly say that we have never stayed in a room so big. We had a seperate door into the bedroom and 3 sets of sliding doors. The food was excelent but I found that the bar service was poor, we sat and waited for service a long time on the odd accation we just left and had a drink in our room.

The pool area was full of towels and may I just say that most of them were English not German, the pool was too shallow and had a lot of broken tiles but I think it was ment for the children if so these tiles could have cut into little feet.

The other pool that was deeper looked dirty and no one ventured into it it I put a toe into the water it was too cold. We would go to this hotel.

After asking what others thought of this hotel and getting no response I have to say that we were worried about the hotel.

We have stayed in the area several times and always been happy. The food in this hotel is excellent not one thing to complain about.

The only downside to the Princess is the pool area, as pleasent as it maybe, there are far too many tree,s etc we found that we could not be bothered to join in the 8.00 race for the 12 or so sunbeds that got the sun for more than an hour, so we headed off to the beach.

We would normally spend our holiday around the pool and hotel. The reception and bar areas in the hotel are very good.

We took parents with us this was there first visit to the island and they were very pleased with both the hotel and resort.

We booked this hotel through Thomsons platinum, what a joke, the hotel is well past it's sell by date, rooms are very small, shabby & walls paper thin.

We had no rep to take us from or to the airport, when we got there we found out that the majority of the german guests staying there were all inclusive, this is not offered in the uk thompson brochure, what a rip off.

It is by no means a 4* hotel as advertised, at the most it is 3*.

Entertainment in the hotel is rubbish, the drinks very expensive, and the pianist plays like Les Dawson.

We will not be going back.
We will not be going with Thomsons again ....anywhere.

The Tenerife Princess is a lovely hotel situated in an excellent location for all areas of playa de las americas. It has just had its air conditioning updated and we found it to be very satisfactory. Not four star but definately three star, only the decor to be updated and then four star again. Cleanliness very good.

The food was excellent and you can eat as much as you like. Waiters and waitresses very smart and efficient. The dining room is the only area of the hotel where we found the air conditioning to be unsatisfactory.

The pool area was very clean and the pools themselves good though a bit cold on some occaisions. The towels on the sunbeds saga.... Doors were shut to the poolside until 0800hrs but people queing to get out there, and no it wasnt mostly Germans but the English.

Entertainment ok but could be a little unprofessionable. Drinks in the hotel and poolside expensive compared to outside the hotel complex.

We arrived at the Tenerife Princess at 12 noon, and we had over two hours to wait until our room was ready.

Having been up since 3am,we found this unacceptable, and something we have not encounted in all our years of holidaying in Spain.

Having finally received our room key,and going to our room,we were amazed to find our corridor resembled a building site. There were cables, wheelbarrows, and all manner of building materials in the corridor.

The doors, firedoors, were covered in emulsion and plaster splats for all of the first week.work started at 8:00am until 6:00pm every day.at the end of the week, whenthe work was finished,we were then greeted by the maids, who had to clean up the mess left, wearing face masks due to the smell of the cleaning materials.

Guests should not have be allocated rooms on this corridor whilst these rooms were being renovated. Everything else at the hotel was first class.

We loved this hotel, rooms were large and clean but not 4 star. They do need updating the hotel is re-newing the air conditioning.

The hotel is impressive but its no good having a fancy reception and nice swimming pool and not having bedrooms to match.

Food was fantastic, you couldnt get a better location everything is on the doorstep. Don't go on excursions with Thomson they are a rip off, to the side off the hotel is a shop you can book with we went to Mount Tiede, Porto del a Cruz and to the church of the Black Maddona for 18 euros it was a full day trip, Thomson wanted 49 euros for a half day trip just to Mount Tiede!!!

The food in this hotel was excellent apart from the Chinese night, everything had spices in including the soup.

The staff were very friendly.

There was a problem round the pool with people putting towels on sunbeds and not returning for several hours. How sad they are queing up before 8 o'clock to place their towels before the pool attendant opened the doors.

The bathroom was a bit tricky, trying to turn the shower on round a glass screen. I have a few bruses on my arms that I got whilst trying to turn on the taps without getting my hair wet.

The hotel is sold as 4 star under the platinum brand. It does not match the 4 star standard of other hotels.
The hotel is tired and in need of renovation.
Corner rooms are very dark and have very small balconies that are totally overlooked.

Check in on New Years Eve took over one and a half hours of queing the rep. said it was a problem every week.

The bar prices dropped after New Years Eve but service was slow all week.

There a problem with the electricity supply and we had power cuts whilst staying there an on going problem. The hotel did give a glass of wine out as recompense.
The bathrooms are very dangerous due to the position and design of the shower panels. It was not possible to run a bath without stepping into the bath because the position of the screen.
The food was good and the New Years Eve set meal was excellent.

There were problems with the Platinum check in resulting in us arriving at the airport as the flight was called.

Not a 4 star Hotel and not the standard of service and care from Thomsons as other holidays.

The Hotel Tenerife Princess claims to be a 4 star hotel because it boasts a number of facilities. It has an impressive ground marble floor and window lifts, but to claim this is 4 star is extending things!

Check-in seemed to take ages (15 minutes each couple/person). Perhaps they need to upgrade their systems?

When I got to bed the first night I noticed an ants nest and lots of ants crawling all over the place - my first night was ruined. We were moved to another room which was nice, and then enjoyed the rest of the week. The Thomson rep seemed disinterested ("It's a hot country you expect ants!" she said!). Perhaps she was dissapointed that she wouldn't be getting any commission out of us in respect of the organised trips; but the hotel's own PR lady was extremely helpful and friendly.

We came here after a week on a cruise ship where we were spoilt with excellent food. It was a bit of a come-down to be herded into the buffet restuarant where the food was O.K. but catered more for Germans. Breakfast was ok, but greasy! Dinners, plenty of meats and fish but little variety of boiled veg's and potatoes. You can't take your own drinks in (fair enough), and you can't buy wine by the glass. We bought a bottle which we didn't finish and they didn't have a facility to keep it for us for the next night, and we were physically stopped from taking it into the restuarant the next night. That made us angry. It is one of the hotel's "Rules" explained a surly wine waiter. It should be changed, it is a 4* hotel after all. It's a shame they don't enforce the hotel's "Rules" regarding reserving sunbeds with towels with as much vigour. There were many selfish people who put their towel down at 7 am and then use it at 3 pm for an hour - but it didn't worry me.

The air con system is poor, the 'subtle' lights in the rooms are very subtle, and for some reason there are no tea/coffee making facilities. If you take ur travel kettle, hide it in the wardrobe after use or the headteacher will confiscate it!

Having said that the location was brilliant, and I would come back to the Princess, but only on a B&B basis.

Excellent value for money holiday. No real problems usual sunbed fights by older visitors both UK and German.

New glass water splash shields fitted to baths this year are very dangerous. Anyone not to steady on their feet should avoid this hotel for this reason only.

There will be a very serious accident because of these newly fitted bath surrounds.

Definitely not a four star hotel although food was quite good particularly the desserts. Worst aspect of hotel was total lack of sunbeds in the sun, all sunbeds in the sun reserved on pool area opening, some beds not being used for hours, staff or reps not interested in complaints. Supposed to have towels removed after 45 minutes but not done once during the week even when requested.

The Tenerife princess should be closed and refurbished immediately, how Thomson gets away with this year after year is beyond belief.

The food is the only plus point for this hotel, don't be fooled by the brochure you will be really disappointed.

We had a look in the hotel Bitacora just across the road, a real 4 star.

Also there is no air conditioning at this hotel we had to get a fan off the rep (reluctantly).

So be warned this is not a platinum hotel 2 star at most.

Me and my friend, Paula just got back from Tenerife and had a brill time. Loved the pool during the day and the entertainment at night. Although i think that had something to do with the entertainment manager, Francesco, gorgeous guy. If you visit the Tenerife Princess keep your hands off him and tell him "Hayley says HI and Iron Maiden are the best band ever".
Also the rooms were very clean and the waiters do a hell of a good job.

The hotel is in a fantastic location with lots of classy shops, restaurants and bars. The meals were nice, but certainly not fantastic. Every day you are herded in the restaurant which is far too hot to enjoy a meal in . Beware also of the waiters who take your plate, dinner and all,as you're getting a bread roll before you've finished. You are not allowed to take drinks into the bar even after buying them in the hotel which is very poor considering they don't sell spirits in the restaurants. Absolutely no ball games are allowed now in the pool...even catch with my 6 year old son, and one guest was frog marched to the reception for defying this. The air conditioning was appaling and the rep said it needed updating and nothing could be done. This is definately not a 4 star standard. More like an average 3. The entertainment was rubbish and as it's outside, if you want a quiet night in your room, it is impossible.

We stayed 8 days and 7 nights last week (from 9th to 16th August)in Tenerife Princess Hotel.
It was a bit of a disappointment from we expected from a 4 star hotel.

The space in the room was OK, but the air conditioning only made noise and nothing else. In all stay we had 3 power cuts and we knew from other people that had the same problems.

The restaurant was good, personnel also good.
Other problem we found was that the hotel has a rule that forbids anyone to book the sun beds in the pool, but at 7.30 in the morning every sun bed was already with a towel from people that most of times came to the pool only at the end of the afternoon. Of course, if we wanted to pass the day in the pool with the children, I had to wake up early and do the same thing. One day I saw a very shocking and incredible scene. Some sun beds near the pool were ''reserved'' from someone early, and about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, a couple arrived and found no free sun bed so they called a person from the hotel staff in charge of that area, who took up two towels and the couple put their own towels. The person who took up the towels went away with them to somewhere. Of course, when the ones who had booked the sun beds arrived and saw that their towels had disappeared they asked the staff what happened and he simply gave them the towels explaining that it was not authorised to book sun beds. I agree with this if it was accomplished for everyone, specially from the English and German people that were there in all included basis and acted like they owned the hotel.

The price against quality is good, but some details that for me and for a lot of people that gave already their testimony here made the difference and in my case negatively. I only expect these testimonies arrive to board manager of the Princess Hotels chain, because if they do something, perhaps i'll came back one day. Also I hope Tenerife Princess was only one bad experienced hotel of the Princess Hotel chain.

Hotel room was very poor. Had an ants nest and cockroaches in first room so we demanded to move. Reception lady was very rude but we were given a more modern room that was much cleaner. Very disappointed with facilites in the room. It cost us £40 for a fridge to put our babies milk feeds in and we had to keep taking our bottles to reception to be warmed. Told if we used our own kettle it would be confiscated! Also had singles beds although we demanded a double (it was our honeymoon)

An impressive hotel with an excellent pool area, including children's section. On the whole fairly clean but our room had a problem with cockroaches which both my wife and children found disturbing. We where given a spray to use by reception, and when mentioned to the Thomson's rep was told this is Spain and to be expected. (Not my past experience in a 4 star hotel).

The A/C unit, which wasn't at all effective had fungus growing around it. Buffet style food appealed to myself and my wife, but the children didn't like any part of it.

The Tenerife Princess is used by German holidaymakers on a fully inclusive basis, which means the choices in both the bar and dining area can be limited for the rest. The hotel location is excellent and the staff are very helpful.

As mentioned, my only contact with the Thomson's rep was a waste of time. Entertainment although fairly good, didn't start until 10.30.

This is a superb hotel and the whole experience was excelent. The food is buffet style and there is plenty of choice for even the pickiest eater. The entertainment is generally poor however the Drifters were excellent. We found the Buda Bar next door excellent and Daniel Dalton the resident guitarist played 70s and 80s music.Watch the Thomson trips, very over priced go around the corner and save 30%, hire a car from the hotel lobby and save 20% but there is a long wait to pick up the car in the morning. The driving on Tenerife is exciting and taxing and not for the faint hearted. We did go on the tripo to La Gomera and that was excellent and good value. The biggest problem is the sun loungers and people 'booking' them for the day and using them for a few hours in the afternoons. Both Germans and English are main culprits here. We had a great holiday

I stayed at the tenerife princess in july 2004. The hotel was very clean and the rooms had plenty of space however the air-conditioning may as well not have been there as it was in need of updating and did not cool the room down at all ! The food cannot be faulted - it was excellent although i found that it was directed more towards the german holiday makers who were on an all inclusive package, this was the same with the entertainment. The staff were always friendly and helpful however on one occasion, we had a problem with the electric in our room, we phoned reception and they assured us that someone would come to deal with it in five minutes - we ended up waiting over half an hour before a member of staff came to help us. The entertainment was more for children and for that reason we only stayed in the hotel for one night, we also found that at about half eleven every night, the entertainment would finish and everything would close, the place was dead by about quater to twelve - There are lots of places in the center to choose from and I would definatly recommend going out to find your own entertainment of an evening.

We have just returned frm the Tenerife Princess.

The hotel its self was very impressive with the glass lifs ad marble stair case the pool area is much smaller then it looks.

The standard of cleanliness in the room was good and towels are changed daily if required, tip for any one considering taking there hair dryers take it as there is oen in the bathroom but you could blow harder to get your hair dry there not worth having.

We had a suit which made our stay much better but the air conditioning could do with being updated as it was not good we had to hire a fan as our son who is 10 months old was too hot to sleep at night.

The buffet style restraurant offered excellent choice of food and staff were friendly unlike the ones around the pool bars. We did find the restraurant was too hot again the air conditioning not very good some times it was too hot to eat in and sometimes esp in the morings it seemed like a rat race everyone running around for food waiting 10 mins at the toast machine even know we were half board we still went out in the eveing as there was so many lovely places to eat.

The pool was busy and getting up at 7.45am setting my arlam just to make sure we had a umbrella for our son for shade was not a good part of my holiday it was quite funny know seeing grown men running for sun beds.

The location was perfect we walked for miles.

There was a kids club but our son was too young to join but for what i saw the kids were having fun.

We loved thomson platinum check in no queues.

Overall a good holiday but the hotel was not a 4 star hotel more like a 3 star this hotel is also popular with Germans who were at the hotel on a all-inclusive basis so they never leave the hotel.

The hotel was very clean with the maids cleaning the rooms everyday if required. THey were also very friendly along with the hotel staff in reception who grew to recognise our faces quickly and the restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and helpful. The food, however, was somewhat a letdown after reading reports that the food was excellent. We felt let down, and although there was plenty to eat, most was not to our tastes as it differed to the traditional methods of cooking we were used to. There was a wide choice but we felt that it was orientated more towards the German guests in the hotel.
The rooms were big enough although we would have preferred a double bed, instead, we had to make do with putting the two single beds together, but this was difficult due to the unit in between the beds, therefore we were left with little space in the room.
The location was good, we were near the bars which we went to in the evenings, but not too close that our sleep was disturbed. We were near to the shops and to restaurants, although the restaurants were often too busy to accommodate us. The beach was nearby with several routes to and from the hotel. We weren't too keen on the hotel entertainment, it was mainly orientated towards children and the singers weren't great although the acrobat show that we watched was very funny!
Overall, we were pleased with the hotel and what it could offer us during our 11 night stay, we were sad to leave.

We have just returned from the Tenerife Princess having had a super holiday.

The hotel itself is very impressive and we found the buffet style restaurant offered an excellent choice of food to suit all tastes.

The rooms were a little on the small side, particularly as we had an extra bed in for our 6 year old, but the location was perfect as it was quiet at night and our balcony overlooked a pretty pedestrianised area to the side of the hotel rather than over the pool area, which was noisy till midnight.

The standard of cleanliness in the rooms was generally good and towels were changed daily if required, and sheets every 3/4 days.

The staff in the restaurant and reception were very helpful and courteous, but less friendly around the pool bars.

Location-wise, it was spot on, with a short five minute walk to the main shopping area, bars, and restaurants and only seconds from a supermarket. Certainly the better end of Playa and on an evening, leisurely and unhurried unlike the other end of the resort and very clean.

The entertainment was not to our taste and we did not choose to stay in to watch it, preferring to stroll along the sea front or do a little shopping and call in one of the many lovely bars on our way back to the hotel.

The pool area was busy during the day but there were plenty of beds and we didnt feel we had to rush down on a morning. However, there were not enough umbrellas but personally, we did not find this a problem as the pool area has plenty of trees and vegetation where we found shade when we needed it. The pool and the area around it was immaculate and was cleaned every day.

The kids club was a little disappointing as it was geared more to smaller children and there was not much "active" play such as football, tennis etc for kids of our sons age.

We loved the fact that our cases were taken away on the morning of our departure, we were issued with our boarding passes at the hotel and there was no queuing up at the airport, just straight through into the departure lounge - a real luxury. And the Thomson reps were excellent and extremely helpful.

We met people there who were on the 4th visit and they felt that it was getting better every year. We were so impressed and enjoyed so many aspects of it ourselves that we are definitely booking for the same time next year.

My sister and I stayed in this hotel for 7 nights. We were having a break from our husband's and children. The rooms were a good size and the maids took pride in cleaning them. They were always spotless. We stayed half board and the breakfast and evening meals were excellent. There was something for everyone.

Prices at the hotel: Half litre House Red 7.5 euros
Cocktails 6.80 Euros
Moet 82.00 Euros (40 in the shops)

You pay extra for safe and fridge hire.

Evening entertainment: Live shows were ok but after that it was appalling. If you fancy a boogie be ready to waltz with the Germans. The disco was not geared for the English at all so if you want to let your hair down after a few drinks - escape from the hotel!!!

I would recommend this hotel, it's clean, the staff are friendly and the food was excellent.

Very disappointed with the standard of this hotel. Booked Thomson platinum expecting high quality and standards but were overly disappointed.

This hotel was booked as for our honeymoon and was chosen for its brilliant location and high standards. However the first room we were given was a saloon room. Avoid at all costs as these rooms are dark, outdated and infested with cockroaches. We moved to another room which was much cleaner and brighter and more suitable for a 10 month old baby to play in. However we were given single beds so any honeymoon antics were soon quashed.

Location of hotel was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Food was good standard and they seemed to cater for every taste.

Lots of Germans in the hotel saving sunbeds.

Bar next to hotel very nice for drinks.

Kids club seemed to do a good job although the "lady" running it resembled the kid catcher off chitty chitty bang bang.

Would not stay again although we had a good holiday, I feel this hotel is in desperate need of renovation in order to maintain its 4 star rating, would give it a 3 myself.

We stayed at the Tenerife Princess my wife and son age 17. Hotel room was not what we thought, we had booked ie having a 17yr old in the same room as us. The 3rd bed was a camp bed.
We asked if we could be moved into a suite room ie 2 bed rooms only to be told it would cost us 34 euros a night extra we declined.

Pool area was excellent but you could not get the sun beds under shaded areas because people would put their towels on very early in the mornnig to reserve them, very anoying.

Staff not too helpfull we thought. Drinks in the hotel were very dear. Entertaintment at night in the hotel was very poor indeed, where do they get theses acts from?

Food was excellent in the hotel restaurant staff the very best you could wish for.

We think the rooms could do with being updated very shabby for a 4 star MORE LIKE 2 OR 3 STAR overall we had a great weeks time we are returning next yr to the hotel we love Tenerife.

We stayed here for 10 days and overall had an excellent holiday. The hotel was very clean particularly the public areas including the reception bar and pool.

We were however disappointed with the condition of our room which compared to the splendour of the first impression you get from reception when you check in is a bit of a letdown. The furniture and fittings are fairly old and dated and not what you would expect in a four star hotel. The view from our balcony resembled a building site so if you want a decent view from your balcony make sure you request this when you book.

The food cannot be faulted in terms of choice and quality and the all the hotel staff were very friendly and helpfull.

The entertainment was ok but we did not stay in the hotel every night as there was plenty to do and see in the resort at night. At 11.30 after the last act the hotel bar completely empties and it does stay open till 1AM but nobody in there!

Daytime entertainment is limited and you will struggle to find a sunbed without other guests towels on despite the sign saying this should not be done - popular with Germans as you know they always like to get the best spot by the pool!

The platinum check in is worth every penny and you have no hassle what so ever - everything is done for you.
We would consider visiting this hotel again. But will take ear plugs next time as the walls are very thin and you can sure hear the neighbours!

Stayed at Tenerife Princess from 21 May - 04 Jun 04. Had a great holiday but found having to get up at 7.30am and get down the fire exit to get a sunbed & parasol by the pool, a bit daunting. They would kill you for a sunbed! Although we did stay there all day & soaked up the glorious sunshine, it was horrendous that this had to be done. There were loads of sunbeds reserved but very few actually occupied.Very Annoying! Not nearly enough for the amount of guests at the hotel.

Food was good. Rooms clean but a bit dated. In need of upgrading. Definately not a Thomson Platinum Quality Hotel.

Would go back again but not as a main holiday. Nice pool area. Staff very friendly. Met a nice family from Brighton that made our holiday. Happy Memories.

Simply ripped off "was not what it said on the tin" poor furnishings, the pool was in disrepair with an algae on the bottom. 3 power cuts, the room next to us had a new bathroom fitted which took 3 days of banging and crashing.

I paid for a hotel based holiday around the pool with my children,we spent the remaining 10 days on the beach,as I said to Thomsons I may as well of booked a 2 star hotel with no pool for what we got.

Thomsons this is not a Platinum hotel. Albeit the food/dining area and staff were excellent....

We have just returned from the tenerife princess where we stayed on a half board basis for two weeks.
The food was exellent and had a wide choice to choose from. The hotel was clean although the rooms could have been done better.
I would say the hotel rooms were a little tired and could do with an update the furniture was old and damaged and the bathroom with its shower screen stuck to the bath was not what i would call 4 star accomodation.
Every day there was a problem with people understanding the sign that says not to put towels on sunbeds and not come back hours later. At times the pool area would be empty but not a seat in sight, just towels, the staff did not seem bothered when told. The location of the hotel was good and had good access to shops and beach which ever direction we went. The waiters were very good and made a fuss of our little boy every time they saw him.i was led to believe when booking the holiday that the hotel had good childrens entertainment and that when we wanted to leave little one for a couole of hours it would be safe. From what i saw there was a wooden shed down by the side of the tennis court where they all went, but while we were sitting by the pool the kids were wondering about un supervised, as our boy is only 4 years old i saw this as a no go. In the evening the staff spent about an hour with the kids on the dance floor and played a few games from 19.30 to 20.30 just as well my little boy was only 4 years old because none of the games or songs were in english.after that the children can go and watch a dvd film in the kids cinema, the only problem with that was other people sit in there drink and smoke and sometimes if they feel like it turn the telly over and watch the football.this then forces the kids out and for at least one and a half hours untill the so called profesionel entertainment comes on the kids run around the bar. Well we saw plenty of accidents as the kids run un supervised in to walls chairs and tables,we saw on at least 3 occasions an ambulance man with one little boy with blood pouring from a big gash on his eye.the entertainment was a joke quite honestly, a juggler,a sound a like madonna and various others made up a catalogue of rubbish in fact they had the same impact as an overdose of calfig syrup of figs they certainly cleared the place out.we met a lot of friends, two of whome had stayed at this hotel two years ago and told us that then it was not open for children and no entertainment for them and were quite surprised to see it advertised this time. Well i can say without a doubt this hotel is not child friendly and a risk assesor would say the same.there is a games room though, 3 pool tables of which for the first week had only one white ball between them and we had to get refunds from reception each time.it has an air table game that was most of the time out of order, and a football table not much can go wrong with that i would not think.although the drinks are ok on price in the hotel it dose say thattips are not included in the price,so whenthe waiter brings the drinks over if you pay him then and there and give him a tip or put the drink on your hotel room and give him a tip i was not to pleased when settling my room bill that they added a service charge again which came to around 10 euro, that ment at least every time i had a drink i bought a member of staff one as well.it says in the book and hotel guide that there is a gym and sauna well the sauna looked like it had not been used in ages and was prob out of order and the gym was two pieces of equipment left on the floor in the middle of a room, no mats nothing on the walls it looked like a last min attempt just to say they had this facility i really cant see why anyone would want tovisit this room down the side of the hotel next to all the piles of old tiles and junk scattered around.at the end of the daythis is a 3 star hotel with 3 star food with 2 star entertainment it is commanding the same price for 2 adults 1 child as the suite princess hotel in gran caneria i do not think so this was a thomson platinum holiday rip off.

Many older people at the hotel and problems with reserved sunbeds. Overall though the food was excellent, service good and the platinum check-in by Thomson must be experienced! Overall very good indeed.

Expected better from a 4 star, more like a 3 star.
Strange location as not really Playa de las Americas and neither Los Cristianos.
Staff were friendly and helpfull.
Room was of a decent size with plenty of storage space, hairdryer did not work properly and the TV never had any reception!
Found the pool to be of a small size compared to the size of the hotel, the hotel was not full nor was it high season and yet it was difficult to get a sunbed and almost impossible to get served at the hotel bar.
Only ate in the restaurant twice as was not impressed with the quality of food.
