From day one i was impressed with how clean the hotel was kept. Our room was always cleaned well and towels were fresh each day. The pool area was also cleaned every day as was the swimming pool.

The food........ Well what can i say. It was OK. Im not a fussy eater and always found somthing to eat but during my second week there i wondered how many more days i could cope with eating the delights that the hotel offered. There was always plenty of salad and fruit but the hot section lacked choice if you dont like pork you are going to have a problem.

I though the location of the hotel was perfect. Just over the main road ( which was easy to cross as not that busy) sat one of the nicest beaches i have been to. It took 5 mins to walk into the main centre but we mainly walked the 10 mins the other way to the marina. There was a little market which ran alongside the side of the marina with a couple of rides for the kids to go on which they loved. There were a couple of bars along that way that sat on the beach so we were able to sit and have a drink while the kids played on the sand which saved all the moaning about them being bored.

I found the staff at the reception very nice, my daughter was ill while i was there and they were very helpful, the thompson reps were also there most of the day.

The day time entertainment was OK the kids enjoyed the games that were played but the girls who ran the games were often looking very bored. Dont know about the evening stuff it was all inside in the bar so wasnt keen on that and there is too much else to see in the resort to watch tribute bands.
Thompson kids club was great my two loved it. I would imagine it being a bit of a nightmare getting the kids in during peak season as they only take 20 kids for each session.

This is the first holiday i have had in years that you do not have to get up for sunbeds, there were loads of beds and loads of space, you could appear round the pool at 11 am and still find space and free beds.

I wouldnt want to go to this hotel again couldnt cope with the food.

Cleanliness:
The hotel was kept clean in general. Rooms were cleaned and towels changed everyday.

The Rooms:
Limited for space although we did have bunk beds, 2 singles beds, a cot and a fridge (30euros for 10 days).

Food:
The food on offer was varied, plentiful and of a decent qulaity with themed nights once a week.

The Staff:
Polite in general apart from one receptionist who miss informed us about keeping on our room on the last day, telling us it wouldn't be a problem and then on a seperate occasion telling us she couldn't be certain until after breakfast on the last day, luckily we were able to keep the room on (29 euros till 6pm) but this did cause undue stress and worry.

Entertainment:
Good for the kids but a little repetative, adult entertainment was different every night with various tribute acts, some of good quality, some of ok quality but in general quite good.

Location:
5 mins walk to beach if that, same to main stretch for busiest bars and restuarants. Supermarket on corner of road. A 10 mins walk will take you to the harbor where you can see how the other half live on their multi million pound yachts and speed boats, this area is also good for shopping and eating out.

Return Visit?
We've put No but to be honest it's not the hotel we wouldn't return to it's more the resort itself that we wouldn't visit again.

This is the 2nd time staying at this hotel and was very disappointed this year as the food had gone down hill. We were on the 1st floor and the noise of pepole going in and out of their rooms was awful very hard to sleep at any time of the day or night. The pool was completely freezing there only seemed to be kids in the pool but when they came out they looked very colded even was the sun was out. Wouldnt go back !!!

Went on my own with 2 children. Met up with some friends. As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we were advised dining hall would soon be closing and we were best to go there before we booked into our room.
We were on 5th floor. 3 lifts. Sometimes a bit slow. Used to walk down (but not up). Room appeared small but was more than adequate for our needs (washing, changing & sleeping).
There was no balcony, which I initially found strange but got used to it.
The Thomson’s kids club was good. Had its own room within the hotel. They also did evening activities a few times a week as well (3e each).
Hotel entertainment was ace too, Jens, one of the hotel entertainers really tried his best to get everyone involved, even when it rained for two days!
All in all the hotel was perfect. Very clean. Good food. Not too far from alcudia port (not the main part) & the lovely beach.
Not a person to return to same hotel but would definitely recommend & would return to alcudia any day.

Have stayed here a few times over the years, but this was the first time without the kids. Over the past 8 years the Manager, Reception Staff, Bar Staff etc.,have been practically the same. They are , pleasant, eager to please, and efficient. The food is always well presented, plentiful, and the restaurant operates efficiently.. they also introduced a special kids area with it's own menu a few years ago, and I see it's still there.
The rooma are small, but kept clean & tidy. I've been in a lot of hotels through work and holidays, all over the UK, Europe, & USA ... but the Delfin Azul is underated as a 3 star ... you won't go wrong here, as it's specifically for families, but the entertainment is for every age group

Excellent value for money hotel. The rooms basic but cleaned every day. We hired a fridge for 30 Euro for 10 days. The childrens clubs seemed good, although my son didnt go (he was too busy in the pool). My only grip really was the blessed slot machines, in the hotel. They where expensive and it all became tiresome. The location of the hotel is great, the beach 5-10 min walk. The harbour is well worth a visit or two, this is about 20 mins, go left at the bottom of the road. You must be up early for a space around the pool, beds are plentiful, but you must be up about 7.30 to get a good speck where you can see your kids in the pool. Things get hectic around the pool, and lilos and spray guns are a pain. A solution to this would be a life guard to ensure that these items are stopped going into the pool, and give peace of mind to parents. The food was great, always hot and plentiful something for everyone, and for the complainers of this i would like to know what do you eat at home. Drinks of coke etc are pricy in the hotel but a spar shop 2 mins away solves that one. We saw Thomson reps every day, and always where approachable and helpful. I would deffo go to this hotel again and think all should be applauded for their efforts of ensuring a good holiday.

Location is great beach a 10 min walk. The busy mainroad outside is not a problem. It is a 15 min walk to the port with its lovely restraunts and 10 mins to Alcudias other pubs and clubs.
Hotel very clean maids came in every day changed sheets every 2-3 days.We found ourselves and other guests children had problem with the pool water. They developed a dry skin condition around the face.Mind you they were in the pool a lot(we complained).
Food ok as mentioned before typical Spanish trying to accomodate us Brits. My Wife a veggie for her sins and she struggled for this reason we would not return.Staff great reception allways there to help as we went on a DIY we had no rep contact but if you needed advice Thompsons reps are allways there also.Mixed thoughts on entertainment my 12 year old girl thought it was good my wife thought ok me and my son thought absolute rubbish so we are all in disagreement.Drinks prices are high i thought if you drink day and night in the hotel it will be expensive as pubs are cheaper. But it does say on the front door "no food or drink to be consumed on the premises bought outside" we waited a couple of days an watched other people and it was obvious many people decided to purchase a 2ltr bottle of Fanta for the same price as a small orange and this extended to beer and wine.Like sheep we joined in saved a fortune.Sunbeds in the morning are a laugh they lock up the beds till 8:30am and us brits are all around the pool like vultures waiting to strike theres plenty room for everyone and enough beds also we heard new guests getting up at 6:00am to secure there spot very sad im afraid. overall this hotel is very good and if it suited my wifes needs we would return. As 3 star hotel goes its a winner.

We have been to the delfin Azul 7 times and thoughrally enjoed it each time. The Location-although near a busy main road- is excellant as you can saunter to the beack as you desire.Pep the headwaiter is a close freind who is incredibly kind to my daughter who is 8. He has worked at the Delfin since we have been attending and is part of the brickwork. the Cleaning staff are excellant and are impecabley timed to suit your needs and requests. The entertainment in the Hotel is up to standard every night with something for kids and adults, a particular entertainment highlight was the hypnotist Aram Ford. Finally the staff in the hotel are all close freinds of ours and i would like to reserve special praise for Biel, Pino, Maria del mar, jay and last of all a former emlpoyee of the hotel, sito who is one of the families best freinds. Incredible hotel all round and worthy of moree than the mere 3 stars they currently hold*.

We were a bit concerned about the rooms being too small as we normally go self catering. They are small but do the job as we didn't spend that much time in them anyway.
The first couple of days the pool didn't look too clean(you couldn't see the bottom) but that got sorted out.
Entertainment was very good, proffesional acts on most nights.
Location was ideal, few minutes walk to beach,5-10 mins to lively area,10-15 mins to port area.
We were very surprised how good the food was for a 3 star hotel, our 2 sons have never eaten so much.
The staff in the hotel were excellent, from the reception to the restaurant,to the bar and cleaners, all polite and helpful.
Would definitely recommend the Delfin Azul to anyone looking for a family holiday.
Regarding some reports about noise we didn't think it was that bad, when the entertainment finished obviously you could hear a bit as everyone was returning to their rooms but that was about it.

Our 2nd visit in 5 years to this Hotel, nothing has changed at all. Staff are excellent, Hotel is very clean and so is the resort, food is great but not a great selection for kids but my 2 are very fussy eaters. Entertainment is fabulous every night, Location is brilliant as it's in a quieter area just 5 mins walk to the noisy part, so got best of both worlds. Beach is 2nd to none, clean and tidy plenty of beds with shade and plenty of water sports.

We could not fault the hotel at all. I know a few people have made comments about the drinks prices but they weren't that bad.

The food was varied and hot every night. The kids loved the variety they had especially with the desserts! The hotel is situated on a busy road which you will need to take care crossing if you want to go to the beach.

The hotel staff were always polite and helpful. The entertainment was excellent, especially the Thomson reps,& Art & Jo who always made a massive effort with everyone and the kids loved them.

This is a brilliant hotel in a fantastic location just 5 min walk to the beach which I would thoroughly recommend as it is gorgeous, white sands and clear water, you could have mistaken it for Barbados!

All in all, 10/10 for the hotel and we will definitely be going back!!

Hotel was nice and clean except in the week we were there. There was no clean bedding (not good when youve got a 2 yr old with lollies).

Food was very repetitive and watch the the theme nights, if you like fatty meat you'll love it.

Spanish staff were spot on but prices were a bit and I mean quite a bit over the top for drinks and such.

Overall good but not worth the return.

The Hotel Delfin Azul is a good choice for family,s as it cater,s for all tastes. The adult entertainment for the time of year was first class and kids were kept busy all day until they dropped as our's did.

The cleanliness was spot on, clean towel's and bedding every day, there was a good choice of food with a seperate children,s buffet.

The staff from the cleaner's to the head waiters were very helpful. Even when things blew off the balcony rail's and onto the roof below, as quite a few did, some one was sent to retrieve it and return it to the right-full owner's this is a well kept hotel.

This was our first time at the Delfin Azul. It's a lovely hotel, very clean, the maids came in every day, and they were really nice too.

The food was nice, but tended to be the same food after a while. Kids buffet was great for our kids.

Couldn't fault the staff, they were great. Very friendly.

Entertainment was good, there was always something going on, tribute bands, karaoke.

My only complaints are the noise, although I read about it on reviews, I wan't prepared for the level of it. People coming in late didn't keep quiet !!! The other is that when we arrived, the hotel was overbooked, so we had to go and stay in another hotel overnight, which was a bit of a pain.

Over all though, we had a good stay, and enjoyed ourseleves.

Entertainment was also good, some very good adult shows as well as good kids shows.

The only bad thing that I can say is, the swimming pool was great to cool down, but there was quite a few people adults and kids with ear infections, me included, had to go to doctors when I got back.

Would go again, and tell others to go as well.

We arrived 4.30 am and boy were we in for a shock. The rooms are air conditioned but needing a safe and with my wife being diabetic we needed a fridge charged £50 before our holiday begun.

The food well say no more but I would not feed it to my dog never mind feeding it to pigs. Of the 2 meals our stomachs tollerated at the start of the holiday we ended up ill with food poisoning. We ate out after that for every meal.

Cleaners in every day. No passion at this hotel as the walls are paper thin. Very expensive to drink in hotel.

The entertainment was very poor with a pathetic little stage to perform on.

The lifts for such a big hotel total 3.
Waste your holiday waiting for a lift.

I would never go back to the Delfin Azul. Kicked out of room at 12 noon although not flying till 4am the next day, no luggage room to leave bags. Leave your luggagae at your own risk.

We paid 28 euros for an extra 6 hrs for our room till 6pm then still had 7 hrs to sit in the lobby till pick up. In the end we got so sick we got a taxi to Palma airport to get out of the Delfin Azul forever.

This is a great hotel and have been going every year since I was 7. The hotel staff are greatt and very friendly and I would definately recomend this hotel to everyone.

The food was great but bit repetitive. However, they do have their themed nights on food which is great. The childrens entertainment is the best ever and kids all over the hotel enjoy it. I've got one thing to say if you dont like noise and you know that its a family hotel dont bother going if your just going to moan and complain its not worth it.

We had a fantastic time at this hotel from the moment we arrived.

Our room was a good size which consisted of a double bed and bunk beds. Towels and bed sheets were cleaned every day in a fortnight.

The food was excellent my five year old is a picky eater but the kids had there own buffet which consisted of pizza, burgers, chicken nuggets, chips, spaghetti bolognese and fish fingers. As for the adults section we had a different meal every night for a fortnight plenty to choose from and piping hot.

Entertainmnet was great different act every night and kids loved the mini disco.

This was also the first hotel that I have ever visited where you don't have to get up at 7am to reserve a sunbed. Some mornings we never got up till 10am and there was still ample sunbeds and space.

Would definitely go here again.

One of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. Maid service and cleanliness excellent. no complaints about food what so ever.

The location good, but there was a very busy road outside the hotel. The hotel and resteraunt staff were brill. We needed a doctor while we were there and the hotel receptionist just organised it straight away, no problem.

By the way did I happen to mention she was English so if anyone did have any problems if this lady was working she understood everything you were saying.

The entertainment was very good. Something for everyone. We would definately come back to this hotel.

In the hotel I was in it was so good I didn’t wont to leave because it had lots to do and it had good entertainment like the reps show.

When I was there one of the reps apartments got broken in to and the fire alarm went of at the same time and there was lots of police.

The hotel was clean and when you went out to the pool it was quiet and it got busy in the day and the hotel opened 2 weeks before we went because it got painted and the pool was so clean.

Try some of the local bars the best we found was The Island bar run by Chris and Claire which is over the main road towards the beach you will always get a lovely welcome and excellent food and service.

I recommend it and everybodys friendly. Not one holiday has been bad. The receptionists are friendly and helpful.

The bedding is clean and the cleanliness is great. The food is the best though after 14 days each year can get a bit repetative.

The location is great it is next to lots of great bars and the beach is just a short walk away.entertainment are great bingo, tributes, comeidians, and hypnotists.

The staff are great the bar staff are very polite and never fail to use manners. People complain about no TV but we lasted for 2 weeks and never thought about it.

The Delfin Azul is the best hotel ever and deserves more than a 3 star

Myself and my husband and our two children (aged 2&6) have just returned from an 11 night stay here and we loved it. The hotel was fantastic, especially for the kids. I read many reviews before we went and I find it hard to believe how not one of them mentioned how great James, Katie & Jay were, the entertainment staff employed at the hotel. My Kids loved them, my daughter especially fell in love with James. The kids mini-disco they performed each night was highly amusing. My son was besotted with head waiter Pep who made an effort with every child in the hotel.

The food was varied and was very nice, we were very impressed. Towards the end I found I didn't have quite as much choice as I would of liked but I was still happy.

The pool was big and at times crowded but I felt quite happy all the same, we chose to sit on the grassed area which was a little more peaceful. There are sunbeds for all though all the same.

The entertainment was varied and very good although after 11 nights of it we couldn't help feel every night wasn't necessary, a simple bit of music and dance would of done I think. Sometimes less is more ! But in all I haven't got a bad word to say about this hotel.

The maid service was great. Clean towels every day which was a huge bonus.

And again thanks to James, Katie & Jay. You made the holiday for our kids..

We have just returned from the Delfin Azul in Alcudia, Majorca. It was not our first visit to Alcudia But was our first to this hotel.

I read reviews prior to going and was quite worried about what I might find, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The hotel is situated next to a busy main road but we didn't encounter any major problems getting across, when we visited the beach which is just at the other side of this road.

The hotel is exceptionally clean they obviously take a lot of pride in its appearance and the rooms were cleaned to a very high standard every day, and we were supplied with enough towels for two families. The gardens surrounding the hotel are also very well kept.

We went on a half board basis and the food was excellent. The children had a separate buffet so if you are a fussy eater you could always find something to eat from theirs. You were offered the usual cooked breakfast items plus fruit, biscuits, yogurt, cereal, toast etc. On an evening the selection was incredible. Salads, rice dishes, meat, soup and for dessert there was plenty of fresh fruit and cakes.

The staff are very helpful and make you feel very welcome. There are children's reps from ages 3-12 which hold daily clubs free of charge. Also there are 3 entertainment staff who organise activities through out the day around the pool area, and also on an evening in the bar. The bar prices are very expensive as are most hotels your visit. Also the bar area is not non smoking and could get get quite unpleasant at times.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to families as the spend a lot of time entertaining the children.

I only have one real criticism about this hotel and that is there is only air conditioning on the ground floor. You can hire a fan for your bedroom but to be honest it just circulates warm air. For this reason only I would not return to this hotel unless air conditioning was fitted to all the rooms. The heat is quite unbearable at times and with 2 young children sharing a room it can be stressful.

We went to Mallorca again because we never got to see it all the first time, still have not seen it all.

The hotel is very clean and the maid service excellent, towels changed daily and beds made. 3 lifts always working.

Lots of sun beds and tables and chairs by the pool but as usual towel appear around 07:30 but we had no problem getting a space any time of the day.

The entertainment was good there were some thing different every night as well as a kids disco every evening,

The only thing I can say bad about the place is the bar prices they are very expensive, I recommended you go to the Spar shop on the corner and get your kid drinks from there and only pay for the adults at the bar.

Food was very good different each night.

We stayed at the Delfin Azul for 2 weeks in June 05 we had a great holiday one of the best.

The food was good although by the end of 14 days the choice was getting a bit boring, lots of puddings to choose from, the kids menu was good, the adults menu never had chips although you could go to the childs part to get them.

The cleanliness was absolutely brilliant maid service every day, the hotel is situated near a busy main road, and it can be very noisy at night with passing traffic, the only downside to this hotel was no a/con but reading the right up for 2006 all rooms are going to have a/con. The lifts are also very unreliable, breaking down 3 times in the 2 weeks we were there.

The entertainment was ok, but much of a muchness every night. The hotel bar was very dear, but pubs down the road were a lot cheaper and buy one get one free in most places.

Would definitely go back to the Delfin Azul.

The food was lovely, different every night for 14 nights.

Entertainment was good. Tribute singers were excellent we had Elvis, Robbie Williams and Madonna. Kids disco every night.

Bar prices bit expensive as expected but you are on holiday!!!!

Varied choice of bars and shops nearby.

Bit noisy during the night with deliveries etc.

Overall we all had a fab holiday!!

But it's back to work now blah blah ... to save for the next holiday!!!!!!!!

The selection of food was limited, we found some food to be contaminated with detergent & the plates/cutlery to be rather unhygienic.

The hotel is situated on a main road that doubles as a speedway circuit. Between the noise from the road & the uncomfy camp beds in the rooms, didn't get any sleep the whole two weeks.

The bar prices in the hotel were ridiculous to say the least. We got two JD's & coke for 11 euros, we went to the local shops & got a bottle for nearly the same price. Scotland is cheaper.

No complaints about staff or reps they were all very nice.

Excellent Hotel, reception staff very helpful as were the reps.

There is always something going on at the hotel - the reps really try hard to get everyone involved. Only saw a bit of the show each evening as we would go out after the evening meal but what we saw was good.

All of the hotel is extremly clean, the towels were changed everday for the 10 days we were there and the bed linen was also changed.

The pool area is cleaned up each evening and kept very tidy.

The meals are varied each evening and the kiddies section is ideal for the children. The head waiter was very polite at all times.

The drinks in the hotel were more expensive than in the local bars but it is the same in any hotel.

Everybody in our party enjoyed themselves on this holiday.

This hotel was lovely to stay in, They had Kids club for the children most days, also games for the children such as skittles and adults also had games like killer pool, riffle shooting, clock darts etc.. throught the day! which my little one and hubby really enjoyed!

The pool was very clean and they had a shallow end for the kids, plenty of sunbeds as well to relax on, and a lovely bar outside to get your drinks and snacks from.

Food here was lovely with something differnt everyday to eat, they also had a lovely waiter who showed you to your seats at each meal.

The location was brillant, not far from town and the beach, where there was a range of shops

The staff were lovely and very helpful at the hotel, and we also had maid service everyday with clean towels and bedding.

I would definately visit this hotel again

Wow! What can I say, this was our 2nd trip to Alcudia but our 1st time we opted for a half board holiday, this hotel totally changed my views on half board.

The food was fantastic, so much choice and always piping hot, rooms were cleaned every day and maids were always very friendly, in fact all the staff were so nice and could not do enough for you.

Entertainment was fab both at night and in the day around the pool (the lilo stack) attempted by the Thomson entertainer was hilarious, the beach is to die for and our day out at the port was just so relaxing.

We will definitely be going back to the Delfin Azul again next year, however, Id recommend if like me you love your morning brew, that you take a travel kettle and brewing up stuff as none provided, this is the only thing that lets this hotel down.

Definitely a big 10 out of 10 in every aspect.

This was our first time in this Hotel. We thought the food was always of a high standard accommodating the requirements of both adults and children.

The rooms were cleaned daily, beds made and new towels provided.

The beach was less than a 10 minute walk away(and what a wonderful beach it was!)
With it being the end of the season the pool was not busy and provided endless fun for the children.

The Staff were always friendly especially, the staff in the restaurant, and we have not encoutered any problems.

The Entertainment was particularly enjoyed by our children(16) by taking part in the daily family quiz and bingo.

The groups were entertaining but could have been better.

However, we still had a great time and already making plans to come back next year as we all enjoyed the stay very much.

The cleanliness of this hotel was first class. It’s a shame the rest did not match up.

The food was very good and well organized but there was no drink with the evening meal unless you bought it and this worked out expensive when you were there for two weeks.

The drinks in the bar were very expensive, my friend had a pot of tea for one and asked if she could have a extra tea bag in to make it a bit stronger and was charged for two teas making a pot of tea for one 3.60. Euros which by anyone’s standards is exorbitant.

We found the English receptionists helpful but the Spanish were brusque and sometimes rude.

The entertainment was poor churning out the same children’s songs every night the same type of quiz then bingo, then it was the main attraction which with the exception of a couple of acts, not very good and comedians in bad taste knowing there was small children still present.

This was my first time abroad and I felt let down to be in such a beautiful place and not really get the service I expected.

We stayed at the Delfin for the 2nd time, and were not disappointed to return. The staff remembered us from the time before.

The rooms were cleaned daily, I was surprised to read some of the comments above as our room was immaculate both times, clean bedding and towels provided.

The waiters were excellent towards my 3 children (Lorenzo in particular -thank you) as were the receptionists.

The entertainment on an evening was fantastic from tribute bands to magicians. So what the kids disco was the same time every evening, kids like to know their routine, the disco might have had the same dances but the kids love it because they get more confident to dance ! Well done to Ian and Anna (the first year )and to Tania and Jay last year, excellent reps, as were the Thompson reps.

The hotel was clean as were the rooms. The maids came round every day and cleaned up the rooms.

The food at the hotel was good and they even have a seperate section for the children. I am a fussy eater so finding something to eat at hotels is usually quite a struggle for me but there was plenty to choose from. And the desserts are to die for.

Although it is nearly the end of the season the entertainment was fantastic, really enjoyable.

I would definitely go back to this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

The hotel is very clean, maids come and clean rooms everyday. a lot of people were careless with there rubbish around the pool and outside the bar area, but cleaners came around cleaning up every night. the reception area and dining area were both very clean and airconditioned, so you could get out of the midday heat.

The hotel food was very very good. there was a seperate buffet for children, this consisted of chips, fish fingers, cheese burgers, chicken nuggets ect. the adult menu had a lot more choice as there were salads and different meats with veg. they did a lot of fish dishes. but there strongest point was the puddings. there were loads of different types of sponges, cakes, tarts, jellys, icecreams and lots of lovely fresh fruit. they also did a mallorcan and chinese nights and all the staff dressed up. the mallorcan night was very good but we were not too fussed on the chinese.

there is an agacent very busy main road which you need to be careful on, there is a crossing but cars don't always stop. the beach nearby is ok, but you do need to bewear of jellyfish as i got a nasy sting. there is a bar which is quite noisy till midnight and hotel entertainment is on till 1am but it depends on wich side of the hotel your on. but the noise is nothing really to worry about. the rooms dont have a/c so it can get very hot, you can hire a fan from reception but they are noisy. a lot of people just had the patio door open at night.

the hotel entertainment is very good some nigts are very funny and good to watch. but some nights we were not too fussed.

hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times.

the pool is nice but is quite small. there is restricted space around the pool for sun beds. there is a grassy part around the pool which can get muddy with people coming in and out of the pool.

The food was excellent, a good choice for everyone and the children had there own buffet. They even had a Chinese theme one night with the staff all dressed up the food was delicious. The Hotel is very near a busy main road but there is crossings - you do have to be careful with children. The Hotel staff are very helpful and pleasant and the Thomson team were brilliant, very good entertainment at night and a good mini disco for the kids. The prices at the bar were very pricey, kids drinks etc costs us alot as we had three to pay for. You are not allowed to bring your own food or drinks into the Hotel but I think people were starting to do this.

Spent 11 nights at the Delfin Azul w/c 24.08.2003

LOCATION
Located next to the main arterial road along the bay that endures noise 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Road sweepers start at 06:00. Crossing the road is ok if you are careful and its a 2 minute walk to the beach. Supermarkets very close and 5 litres of water cost €1. Hotel about 5-10 minute walk to the main Alcudia strip near the Bellvue and Peach Pitt etc. Takes about 15 mins to walk to the Port / Marina area but buses run regularly at €1 each way per person. Behind the hotel is a few bars and a club. This can get very very noisy all night long.

RECEPTION / PUBLIC AREA / REPS
Generally clean and tidy, with marble / tiled floors. As there are no toilets around the pool you have to use the ones in reception and therefore the floor gets very slippery. Signs all over the place stating that it is prohibited to consume food and drink from outside the hotel in public areas. This is generally ignored due to the prices in the hotel. 3 lifts that are slow and very unreliable.

Reps were on duty everyday but very unhelpful. Trips are expensive with Thomson, so look at Toscan Riezen leaflets in resort.

ENTERTAINMENT
Entertainment was ok and during our stay there was a great hypnotist, a Westlife tribute band, Four Tops tribute band, Abba Tribute band, Blues Brothers tribute band (note the pattern here), customary parrot show and a few hotel run shows. The reps show was fantastic. The Delfin entertainment team Ant, Jay and Tanya were very good and organise Bingo and a quiz everynight.

BAR
Very very very expensive and alcholic drinks seem to be watered down; €2.60 pint San Miguel,€3.50 pint John Smiths, €1.80 soft drink, €1.40 330ml bottle of water. Local spirits / drinks are no cheaper than branded ones at home. Seems they have converted what we pay at home to Euros and then upped it a bit. Snacks are also available from the bar during the day which again are very expensive and small portions. Toasted sandwich €2.80, SMALL pot of Pringles €1.50 etc.

ROOMS
The hotel is clean, tidy and the furnishings are ok. The rooms are small and with three beds, cramped. Our beds were all pushed together so they became one large bed in effect. Bathrooms were functional with variable water temperature so be careful leaving children alone under the shower. Lifts are very erratic and regularly out of order. Hire a fan - you will need it. Mattresses were pulled out onto the balcony and people were sleeping out on the balcony as it was so warm at night. Hired directly from the hotel at €1.70 per day. Safetey deposit boxes are (I think) €3.00 per day as are fridges.

FOOD
Two seperate buffets - one for children and one for adults. Breakfast comprises of full english and continental plus the usual yoghurts and fruit. Dinner has salads and hot each night plus a selection of desserts. Choice is very limited unless you like Hake and Pork with no or little fresh vegetables and potatoes. Salads not good and whatever is left from the night before tends to be turned into something else for the next night. We found the food dissapointing and in the end ate out as the children would not eat the food.

POOL
The pool is surrounded by sun terraces with free loungers, chairs and parasols and lead onto grassed areas. The pool itself is small for this size hotel with a 1.30m that slopes to 1.60m plus seperate paddling pool. Around the edge of the pool is a raised area that gets very slippery. The pool gets very busy and with the amount of lilos etc you cannot move - piranahs feeding time it reminded us of. The pool was cloudy and many tiles had come off the bottom of the pool. The steps were loose as well. Due to no drainage grills the water coming out of the pool drains straight from the terrace onto the grass that in turn becomes marshy. Kids run through this stagnant mud and then jump into the pool. This area is also full of flies and insects who's natural habitat is marshland. Even though bins are provided, it seems few people use them.

You are not supposed to reserve sun loungers however from 7.30 am towels were appearing on chairs around the pool getting ready for the loungers to be released. As soon as this happens, loungers are then reserved and people go for breakfast. Sometimes it can be mid afternoon before people return - and the say its the Germans who do this?

Loads of people had ear infections and stomach bugs. This did not stop them going in the pool and therefore the bugs were reaching epidemic when we left. Witnessed one child being very ill actually in the pool.

BEACH
The beach is a 5 minute walk away. It is clean and the sea clear and shallow as advertised. 2 sunbeds and a parasol costs €6.70. There is a regular waft of ammonia that is very strong sometimes. We were informed that there is a sewage plant nearby and that raw sewage is under this section of Alcudia beach so if the kids dig deep enough they will find it! How true this is I dont know, but the smell was awful. €35 for a skyride, €12 for a large pedalo, €7 for a small one etc. Banana boats and donut rings go regularly too.

OVERALL
Definately not as advertised in the brochure and I think the positive reviews on here are from people who had a lucky escape. Speaking to people who had been to the Delfin Azul before said it was the worst it had ever been and they would not be returning. I certainly would not return to this hotel and would think hard before going to Alcudia - very dissapointing holiday that cost an absolute fortune both in and out of the hotel. Long gone are the days of a cheap holiday to Spain whilst the exchange rate is so bad.

We had the worst holiday ever at this hotel.
It was very noisy no air conditioning the pool was filthy it got dirtier as the day went on my husband, I and our daughter all were ill.

Also my husband cut his leg on a table in the hotel which was reported to the rep that did nothing at all about it until I pointed out that if a child cut their selves on the said table that she would be held responsible.

The resort is a beautiful place. The food was not bad and the head waiter was the best ever. The reps at this hotel were next to useless they did not inform any of the people who were on our flight back home that they had changed the coach time so we all missed the coach and had to pay for our own taxi with another couple who had no money left so we had to pay for them too. We did get our money back off Thomson

Delfin Azul, awful. Alcudia was awful.

All members of my party were sick, never would we return.

Nothing about this holiday appealed, my advice is stay away.

This very large hotel runs like a well oiled machine and the management and staff are to be congratulated. In particular the restaurant is extremely efficient and the chef and his crew deserve particular credit for the quality, quantity and variety of food available at the self service breakfast and dinner buffet. British tastes are well catered for with full cooked breakfasts, including toast and HP sauce for those who want it!.For the more adventurous there is usually some local dish available at dinner.
Rooms are simple and clean. The plumbing works well! A nice powerful shower with constant water temperature. The rooms have no air conditioning TV or radio (which one might expect to find in a 3 star hotel).
The grounds including a swimming pool were well maintained - all garden furniture and loungers were stored away by 7:00 p.m. each night and any litter removed at the same time. Some of the furnishings in the large air conditioned public rooms were looking a little shabby.
Entertainment provided every evening was geared towards families. On some evenings there are professional acts including a comedy duo and hypnotist.
The main problem that we found was the noise from the busy main road that runs alongside the hotel. Traffic was heavy throughout the day and only abated slightly in the small hours of the night. It was also necessary to cross this road to get to and from the beach.
The beach gets very crowded. Hardly possible to find a spot to lay out the beach towel! The sands are soft and clean.
Outside of the hotel were stops for the public bus stops to Alcudia port/town and Can Picafort. Running every 15 minutes in each direction - average fare 1.10 Euros (each way - payable to the driver). In the resort there are plenty of shops and supermarkets. Also nearby many bars cafes and restaurants catering for a British clientele.

I was in a party of 10 which included 2 young children under the age of 4.The tour operator put our rooms in close proximity on the same floor which I thought was great. The hotel accomodation I thought was excellent and very clean. There was clean linen everday and beds made as well. The food and restaurant was good. There was a good array of food for all but not to everyones taste in our party. But most of all we enjoyed the entertainment and especially the hard working reps!!. I thought all the reps were excellent epecially Ant, Jay, Lewis and Fran!!. Ant and Jay were brilliant and very proffessional. I was dragged up on stage and had a great time with the gargling competition-gargling Hey Jude, the blankety game which I was second, and of course the pool champ on the eve of the world cup final with my trophy dedicated to Brazil held above my head. There was plenty of activities in the day for adults and kids including waterpolo, shooting, darts and pool. Also I thought the kids zone was brilliant and we all enjoyed the songs as much as the kids. Especially when they got the adults to dance to the songs. I would like to know if any one who has stayed there has a copy of the 'Mimic Man' song and 'the King of Caracatus' song . If you have please could email me at: johnperkins1999@totalise.co.uk and let me know if I could have a copy please. Back to the hotel again..I thought the location was good and not to far from the beach. I am certainly going back next year to have some more great fun...Special thanks to the reps Ant and Jay

we had a brilliant holiday, the reps were there almost all the time for any questions that you had and the hotel staff went over the top to help you. We never saw the same show twice in the two weeks that we were there, althought we thought the drinks were a bit expensive. the kids loved it as there was playgrounds and huge sandpits for them to play with, they were entertained day and night. The food was okay but then you cant please everyone.i couldnt fault anything with the
