The food at breakfast was ok, we never ate in the hotel any other time apart from a few pizzas and toasties etc from poolside bar which was good. We found the hotel staff to be pleasant and helpful. The entertainment was ok, the kids seemed to enjoy it more than the adults, but that aint a bad thing when you want some peace and quiet!! I would use this hotel again.

The room was very clean but basic, the cleaners came in every dayto replenish towels and make beds etc.
The hotel restaurant was very clean and well laid out with ample food and variety and all was very well displayed.
The hotel was very well designed foe ease and comfort and very well positioned for the beach, town and theme parks, the hotel staff were very nice, polite and friendly and most spoke English.
The only area which we felt in need of improvement was the entertainment but it was not too bad but could have been better, we would recommend this hotel for families and couples but may be too far away from the beach etc for anybody with walking difficulties.

My husband enjoyed the food as he likes seafood. Unless your kids live on chips I would not reccommend this hotel for half board.
The hotel was kept very clean but we had problems with Maintenance in our own room. Beds very uncomfortable and the Childrens club was only run for 2 hours per day. The kids entertainment started at 9.30pm if at all! and lasted half an hour same routine every night.
The only really good thing about this hotel was it was only 15 min walk to the parks.
Found staff to be quite rude and abrubt! Would not book again

A member of our party suffered with severe food poisoning whilst staying at this hotel. Be sure to reheat your food in the microwave before you eat it, as the food tends to be lukewarm/ under-cooked. Since our return, we were also informed that a friend of the family who stayed two weeks prior to us also suffered the same fate... so in short take precautions.
The hotel's hygiene was of a reasonable standard and housekeeping staff were present each morning. Rooms were just a little better than basic, typical spanish style. In my mind this hotel is more of a high 3* standard.
Most of the staff were reasonably friendly, however bar and restaurant staff could do with a bit of customer care training. My father was snapped at several times by restaurant staff for sitting in the wrong seat!!
Entertainment was very repetitive and catered more for children or the elderly.
We would not visit this hotel again. We can however recommend the H10 Mediteranean Village for a pleasant stay in Salou and 'Buddy's' american diner for excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I found this hotel great, the food great, entertainment was ok but we ended up going out most nights as the hotel bar is very expensive and my husband did not like the beer, fussy.
There is an outdoor pool which is very nice, also has a poolside bar which also does snacks throughtout the day.
The hotel staff were nice and our rep was very helpful giving us all the information we needed.
I will be coming back to this hotel in the near future.

| said: The hotel was definitely not a four star. When we visited in August it was full of Spanish. At breakfast, there were people crammed in every day. All rushing and pushing for food and cups etc. I do not think they understand queues.
The biggest problem was the sunbeds around the pool. There were never enough and it was so crowded. The only way you could get a sunbed each morning was to queue from 9.00 a.m. until a lifeguard arrived and unlocked the sunbeds - who really wants to do this on holiday?

| said: We stayed in the regina gran hotel for one week in May 2006 on a bed & breakfast basis.
The hotel was lovely and clean the rooms where cleaned every day to a high standard, each room had one double bed, en-suite, television, safe, air conditioning, balcony. The hotel has a big outdoor pool, smallish indoor pool, beauticians, hair dressers, bar and snack bar & a restaurant, we never ate dinner in the restaurant so can't rate it. Entertainment was more for the older generation, familes with children.
We where on a bed & breakfast basis and it was a buffet style, we had plenty to choose from hot food, cereals, fruit, breads & cakes etc if you couldn't find something to eat here I would be suprised.
The location of the hotel was at the far end of Salou about a fifteen minute walk to the beach which eas great cause you weren't near any of the loud bars and it was nice a quiet at night time.
It is about a twenty minute stroll to the Portaventura park which is well worth a visit & fifteen minutes to the train station if you wanted to take a day trip to Barcelona also well worth a visit if you have time.
Most of the hotel staff were very friendly some of them were rude to us at breakfast time(maybe cause they were busy)but other than that very helpful and friendly. Altogether this hotel was a good experience for us and we would definitely return.

More a 2/3 star, the hotel was spotless and run extremely efficient. Rooms cleaned every day.
Reception staff, very helpful. Bar staff friendly.
The restaurant staff were unaproachable most of the time very angry.
We went to leave the restaurant to sit in the reception area just outside the door with our drinks, the glasses were snatched from us and poured into a paper cola cup. No tea cups one morning, after asking three different staff for cups and a long wait, the coffe/tea machine had been switched of and was empty.
One of us had salmon which was off and another had chicken chaseur which was also off. There was no point in complaining they just ignored you.
Having said that, there was quite a few dishes to choose from. Loads of salad choice. As a group of four women we still had a good time.

| said: We stayed in Regina Gran Hotel in Salou. This was certainly not a 4 star hotel in comparison to hotels we stayed in in Majorca.
Food was not good in that it was chips most nights. The food that was served catered more for the Spanish than anyone else and there were a lot of Spanish staying them. Entertainment was terrible which meant we went out every night.
Cleanliness was excellent and the location was good. I am sorry to say I found certain members of reception staff most unhelpful as we had a problem.
When asking directions they are more than helpful etc but once you ask for a manager you will see a different side to them as we did.

| said: Would only go back and stay a few days at the Port Ventura hotels, Hotel Aventura, El paso or La caribe.
never again at Regina Gran.
This is not a 4* hotel. Pool is very small for size of hotel, and yes there are plenty of sunbeds just a pity that everbody is squashed like sardines onto the pool area.
Sunbeds are hard plastic and if you do not have a sore back you will by the time you go home. Very large umbrellas that were very good only problem is pool staff cannot be bothered to fix them into their stands with the result they blow away across pool area.
Strictly no inflatables in pool. You have to pay for the onsite tennis -9 euros/1 hour plus 2 euros for each racket(bat) and 2 euros for a tennis ball, this is all non refundable. I thought I would get 6 euros back(deposit)for the rackets and the ball but was told you have to hire equipment.
Entertainment is a bit naff and nothing really put on for the kids. We were staying half board.
Food was just ok about 4 nights rest of the time(6 nights) it was not good at all. I do not mind red meat rare, but refuse to eat chicken, pork or any white meat with blood still oozing from it.
Dining area again, like pool area is to samll for amount of guests which makes mealtimes a bit crowded.
Cannot complain about reception staff, all were very helpful.
Rooms are very basic(with the usual shower head that does not fit in the holder).
Only about 10 minutes walk to beach.
It is a good 25 minutes walk to port aventura up hill.
Take the bus opposite hotel salou princess(not the train, double the price).
Salou itself to me is not the cleanest of resorts.
Excellent beach and promenade if you like walking.
On the whole it was not a bad holiday but I was expecting a lot more from a 4* hotel, As I said just not my cup of tea.

| said: Just returned from an 11 night stay at the Regina Gran and have to say it was a real enjoyable stay. This is our 3rd time to Salou and this was the best hotel by far.
Rooms cleaned every day and new towels to boot. Hotel itself spotless inside and out.
Half Board basis is more than enough as the hot and cold Buffet breakfast and evening meal caters for everyone’s taste. Themed evenings also gave good exciting dishes.
Beware if you have kids under the age of 4 as the food is more orientated towards adults/Spanish kids ie no chicken nuggets or burgers!! (Just the fussy kids we Brits have!).
You can also swap evening meal for lunch whenever you want so you don’t feel you have missed out cos you are Half Board!!
Don’t let Jack put you off the hotel location is Great. It’s only a 15 minute walk to Port Aventura and a 10 minute walk to the beach and Salou centre. You can't even hear the road at night and we never heard 1 train (try staying at the Cye Holiday Village!!).
Taxi from Airport is only 27 Euros.
Hotel staff are generally very helpful and will do everything possible to help you if you have a problem, it’s a shame the Spanish holidaymakers staying there weren't of the same mindset!!
Pool area is superb for the little ones and its huge size meant it never felt chocker! Sunbeds can be a problem, in particular getting one with a shade! It is unfortunately the only bad point with the hotel as the Spanish (mainly) thought that putting a towel on one at 9am and not returning till 1pm meant it was OK. Hotel took action and they will now remove towels "Reserving" sunbeds!
Entertainment good and varied and the Kids Disco at 9.30 is a must for all the little ones they absolutely loved it! Good Fun.
If you stay at this hotel your holiday in Salou will be a good one.

Cleaning staff do an excellent job. The food was excellent, from breakfast through to dinner. Great choice, something to suit everyone,(even vegitarians).Being buffet style dining you are not limited for choice to try different things.
The hotel is about 10 minute stroll from the beach and town centre and 15 minutes walk to Portaventura theme park.
If travelling by train the nearest station is Portaventura abount 10 minutes walk, out of station and turn right, going straight along main road, hotel is on left opposite railway line.
Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Entertainment was only music played through speaker system ( but it was November and Salou was very quiet)but the guests were all up dancing.
We will definately be going back to the Regina Gran (a bit earlier than November) as a lot of the shops and bars do not open at that time of year.

Various theme food evenings, Polynesian, Mexican, Russian - but so much selection, I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed. The quality of food was always excellent.
Entertainment was good - Polynesian dancing, Russian ballet with modern twist to it!! Cabaret, dancing - but it was never loud enogh to disturb sleep if one wished to retire to bed early.
Location in quieter part of Salou, but, easy walk to superb beach, railway station, town, buses and Universal Studios Port Aventura, all within 10 to 20 mins easy walk. All transport easy to use.
I'm a light sleeper - the dual carrigeway and railway not far away was never any bother. No disturbance at all.

| said: Great hotel and very, very clean .Rooms were cleaned daily and witnessed the cleaning regime in the morning , the floors etc in the public areas were left spotless every morning, wouldn't like to work for the head housekeeper she's a white glove specialist.
The food was of a high quality but was really aimed at the spanish and to a certain extent the dutch. This isn't suprising given that 90% of the clientele was Spanish, mainly Catalan. There were chips etc available for those who didn't want to eat the healthier and indeed high quality spanish cuisine, and fried eggs, scrambled eggs , hash browns for the morning for the less adventurous.
The staff were billiant, really helpful and even those with limited english made a genuine effort for those with no Spanish. A little effort in communicating in Spanish made a real impact.
We really loved this hotel and intend to go again next year. Contrary to a lot of reviews I found the Catalans and Spanish in general helpful and very friendly , especially if you spoke some Spanish.
I also found the hotel prices very reasonable, only €2.90 for a 0.5 l san miguel compares very well with €3.70 at home for a pint of lager, I know it was cheaper in the resort centre but when you're in a hotel you expect hotel prices. At the end you get what you pay for.

The problem was that our travel agent neglected to tell us that the hotel is directly situated at the four-lane autohighway to Reus and Barcelona en the railway is practically in the front yard. Noisy, very noisy!! At your balcony, at the swimming pool, everywhere, 24 hours a day, noisy of cars and trains.
