| said: we have just returned form a weeks stay at the playa park and i have got to say we found it very good.the staff espaecially the bar staff and the entertainment team were very friendly.the restuarant was big and we never waited more than a couple of minutes to be seated, food was fresha and hot always being replaced with hotter food plenty of choice.
the pools were cold but not any more than anywhere else and in the hot weather was a godsend.
two lovely beaches very nearby (steps for one of them though)
the hotel location was good for us just a little away from the central hustle and bustle of salou.
portaventura is great but make sure you put your walking shoes on as it is very spread out, evenings there are better because it is cooler and the queues are half the size.
aqaupolis is fantastic the slides are great
we went on the plana bus to barcelona to see nou camp/shopping/magic fountains.we were warned about the pickpockets and were careful all day then we got picked at the fountains literally in 10 seconds,so beware.
also security at hotel isn't great a family there had there bag stolen twice in 1 week once off the back of her chair in the restuarant and once at the pool.
i would reccomend this hotel though we thoroughly enjoyed our stay,(quad room a little squashed for 4 people though)

| said: Would recommend this hotel for families. Read a few reports saying it was full drunk party goers and was a bit worried before we went but there was no problem mainly families. The youngsters that were there were no problem compared to some hotels in the middle of Salou .
The entertainment was not the greatest but they are catering for a few different nationalities. Plenty more to see in Salou if its not your cup of tea.
Few reports saying the pool was cold it was not any colder than any other pool in Spain. Food was good not much choice for vegetarians but there never is in most places.
We've been to both water parks and found Aquapolis to be the best if you buy a kids meal in MacDonalds you get a child ticket free when you buy an adult ticket, saving us 40 euros. Buy tickets for Port Aventura, not as bad as Alton Towers at this time.

| said: I was very impressed with this hotel, it is a high 3 star and looks grand from outside. Hotel itself is big with large diner, lounge and reception areas. The whole hotel is really clean and so are the rooms. There are pools tables, air hockey and arcade games in the hotel to.
The bar staff are very helpful and keep the bar very tidy. They also provide a snack bar and two happy hours (by 1 get 1 free) every night.
The food was wonderful, especially as my partner is a fussy eater. They have lots to choose from with lovely desserts and fruit to.
There is a bus stop outside the hotel which takes you Barcelona town. The Salou tram also stops not far from the hotel to which takes you most places in Salou or Port Aventura (which is great by the way).
I would definatly come back to this hotel and recommend it. It has everything you need.

| said: We have just returned from this hotel which I must say is a reasonably priced hotel in a good location.
The pool is freezing so beware my only complaint would be that the brochures portraye is that the
Playa Park is for families and couples what it does not tell you is that there are groups of teenagers
male and female who occupy the lower floors, so if your idea of fun is to be woken at all ungodly hours
of the night and you do not mind your children subjected to foul language then this could be for you ?
Not my choice so will not be returning.

| said: I went to the hotel on a half board basis. Before we choose the hotel we looked on this website and found great reviews all of which I can't disagree. The only thing I would like to set straight was that on one review some one gave the hotel a poor grade because their was no mashed potato well I have to say that there was when we were there.
The food was always of a high standard the chefs were always bringing out fresh food for the hot plate. There was a great variety we had everything from chicken fajita to donner kebab salad fresh fish roast beef to name a few.
The room was cleaned on a daily basis and we were given fresh towels.
The hotel might not be great for people with mobility difficulties as their is a walk to the main shops. Having said that the bus stops right outside the hotel door.
There are some great bars etc just 1 min walk from the hotel. We had stayed close to the hotel before and liked the location it is perfect for people who want a good base. With easy access to the hustle and bustle of Salou but don't want it to close that when you want to relax you can't for the noise.
The entertainment seemed good there was plenty of organised activities during the day if you wanted to take part. I would come back to this hotel.
I would also like to share that if like us you enjoy going out and doing trips etc. Then you don't have to go through your rep. one of Salous bus companies run tours to Barcelona for shopping etc or you can go on one of the tours to Barcelona zoo/nou camp/aquarium we went on two different trips we used them to go to the zoo it cost us 28 euros for an adult were Thomson wanted 59 euros per adult. They were very well organised we got picked up from the hotel and dropped back of their. your ticket for the zoo was included in the price we had 4 hours in the zoo then we were picked up and taken to the centre of Barcelona to do some shopping we were given 2 hours for this.
If you are interested in doing this ask at reception and they will tell you how to get the ticket's the company is bus planna their is ticket booth's in the town centre you cant miss them.
Also they run a bus to the bonavista market on a Sunday for 4.10 euros they pick you up at the bus stop right outside the hotel and drop you off here again.
If you want to take in a great show their is a show called the house of magic in your ticket price you get free drink all through the show well worth going to see we had a great night.
If you are thinking about going to the theme park while you are their it is worth buying your tickets before you go we paid £57 per adult for 14 days this includes the ability to go fast pass were you go to the booth at the ride and are given a ticket to return in an hour and go straight on a ride. This is great if it is peak session we went just out of session and we used this service a lot on some of the bigger rides. The one day ticket over there isn't much cheaper. If you buy them before you go you get 20% off the water park.

| said: Half Board cost me an extra £90 well worth it,although my kids struggled and my wife being a veggie lived on soup and salads as they dont cater for non meat eaters.I loved it and cava every morning well what more do you want ?
The talk of a hill is nonsense unless you are an OAP or very overweight.
Located 5 mins from beach 5mins from all the shops and approx 45 min walk to Portaventura or take the bus at 1.2 Euro each.
Spanish Staff were mostly happy people and reception were very helpful.
The entertainment was ran by Chris and Lara (Thanks) who were top drawer they made the holiday for my 10 year old girl.Chris is now entertainment manager now as the hotel is not part of the Golden group anymore.
Night time something for everyone we stayed in hotel most nights which is a reflection on the shows.

| said: If like ourselves you are travelling with young children independently, avoid flying to Barcelona as we found the train transfer from Barcelona Sants Station to Salou a nightmare!
When we arrived at the hotel they had made a mistake with our reservation (8 people in 1 room)! but this was quickly resolved, though we did find the reception staff quite rude.
We found our stay very pleasant, staff in general were extremely pleasant and helpful and the kids adored Chris and Lara (entertainment team).
Overall we would recommend this to families although I should imagine the SMALL pool and surrounding area would become very congested. Beaches nearby are fantastic though getting too them is a bit tricky due to the large amount of steep steps.

Eonderful food in all you can eat buffet breakfast and evening meal.
Entertainment every night and well placed - we visited local beach - a lot of steps but much nicer than main Salou beach, Port Aventura, Salou and Barcelona to name but a few.
All round excellent holiday!

| said: Following a hellish holiday in the armpit of Europe commonly known as Greece nearly a decade ago, I vowed never again to visit the Med and have stuck to U.S or Caribbean from that day until now.
We booked this holiday on a cheap last minute deal and frankly, neither of us was expecting much. We could not have been more wrong.
The hotel was conveniently situated, quiet (perfect for a couple of exhausted 39 year old young fogies!), spotlessly clean and populated by some of the most pleasant and friendly staff I have ever had the luck to meet. Nothing was too much trouble, right down to the plate of sandwiches that appeared unprompted, shortly after our arrival to compensate for the fact that we were too late for dinner!
The food was excellent and there was always plenty of choice-even for two vegetarians like us. House wine in the hotel restaurant was only 4.5 euros a bottle, Cava was available at breakfast and it always seemed to be happy hour at the bar! Thus it was possible to float through your stay in a pleasant alchoholic haze from dawn to dusk !.
Finally, this hotel seemed mercifully free of the worst kind of Brits Abroad as is so often featured on reality TV.
We had a great time and would definitely come back. Shhhh-let's keep it a secret amongst ourselves discerning readers..................

| said: what can i say, i do not think i have ever visited a hotel like this one in my entire life. first impressions on arriving i thought we were at the wrong hotel. it looks like a 4 or 5 star not a 3 star!
the staff are always happy to help and nothing is ever a problem (even in the night) the hotel is nipping clean with maid service everyday and fresh towels.
the food is fantastic with different themed nights, mexican, chinese etc etc definatley worth every penny and they never run out of any thing. the kitchen in the hotel has an excellent reputation that they even train chefs there. in the resturant the lady who shows you your table is an absolute jem (paula) and even saying thankyou in spanish goes a long way.
even though the hotel is fairly large it is a quiet hotel and the entertainment is really great if you have kids. jaqueline and chris do a sterling job of keeping not just the kids busy but also the adults. with things like archery, table tennis, volley ball, giant connect four, hat making competitons, bingo, football and many many more far too many too mention.
myself and my family have only just returned from a 2 week stay but we will be booking up for the same time next year!!!!!
