| said: Me, My boyfriend and our 3 year old son stayed at luxmar and will not be back again. The staff were very unhelpful and could hardly speak a word of english. When we got in our room the door handle was hanging off. The telly didnt work, The sofa beds were broken. When we used the bath the bathroom flooded and bits of pooh came from a silver circle on the floor which absoloutley stank. The full apartment including the kitchen was filthy. As for the area well if you would like to be mugged of all your money right outside as we where then get yourself there. After that we had to go home 5 days early which was a blessing really. The best part of this holiday was the flight home. I feel sorry for anybody who ever stays in this dreadful place. I wouldnt even send my dog on holiday here. Beware!

| said: I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Benidorm, it is a lively place with so much to do and I would recommend visiting the place to anyone. However, me and 2 friends who were staying in one of the apartments found many problems with these apartments. When we arrived both of the lifts were broken so we had to carry all of our suitcases up 13 floors without any help. The balcony doors do not lock and when we turned on our cooker, all of the electricity tripped and so it was not possible to use the cooker most of our stay. A further problem was that when one person had a quick shower, it meant that the water turned cold and we had to wait up to an hour before anyone else could have a warm shower. I would advise anyone to look at other places to stay before choosing here. One thing I do want to mention is that the location was very good as it was close to the Levante beach and all of the shops. It was also very clean.

| said: We booked this after finding a bargain on the web (£114 for a week)
The apartments are directly across from the cinema which shows English language films once a week.
The apartment was clean and bright with a good sized balcony. Kitchen utilities included a 2 ring hob and a small grill type thing OK for heating food but not much more (don't expect to be able to cook a Sunday roast here).
The staff were very courteous and helpful and the small bar on ground floor was handy for the odd beverage.
There are a number of supermarkets very close to the apartments including a Iceland a couple of streets away.
My one complaint was that the building was quite noisy. You could hear every footstep in the corridors and room above and the couple next door to us gave us a couple of noisy late nights (I think they were working out or something?) Fortunately the apartments were relatively empty that week.

When I arrived, I must admit the man on receptionist was a bit moody, but other than that the accommodation was standard with a good size balcony and apartment.
The apartment was a ten minute walk from the bars and beach.
I would definitely recommend these apartments for groups of friends, as they can get quite noisy.
Over all great location and great value for money, there were 12 of us mixed genders and it was fantastic!!

| said: Hotel was fine apart from some English guys that stayed just below, as they would be shouting from their balcony and playing music at very early hours of the morning, this caused many a sleepless night. I would have thought that the security guard or the guys at reception would have kept an eye out for this problem but they did not.
Also there was a clean set of towels issued once but no clean sheets issued over a 7 night stay!
I would say that any couple that want a bit of piece and quiet at night, then this hotel would NOT be the one for you.
I must say however that I personally found the guys at reception to be very helpful and pleasant.

| said: Hotel cleanliness good however looking at the reviews I am surprised no mention of the 50 litre hot water boiler.
There was not enough water to have a shower. There were four adults in the one apartment getting ready for a night out on the town. Not enough water for two showers let alone four. When I approached the hotel manager he just calmly explained you have to wait one hour and thirty minutes for the boiler to reheat.
The hotel staff not very accommodating.
On the whole an average apartment I will not return there.

| said: When we arrived the staff were grumpy and very unsociable. they couldnt speak very good english.
It may sound silly but you'd think there would be some one on reception that could because of the amount of English that visit.
The rooms was quite dirty. Towels and beds only changed twice in a week. I noticed some kind of dead insect in the corner of the room before we left to go out one morning, it was still there when we got back. As it was in the corner I left it there, it was still there when we went home a week later! Were the floors ever cleaned?
I love to sit round the pool usually in an afternoon for a few hours, so the first day is what I went to do but i sat there for about 10 mins then left. there was something about it that made me feel uncomforble. Didnt sit around again. The safes were in reception so every time you needed any money all of reception could see what you'd got in your safe.
Not my cup of tea. Never stay in this hotel again.

You get lots of clean towels and sheets and a TV that requires a euro to work for 30 mins. The best bit is the balcony which is about 8 metres by 12 and has a table and chairs. We were lucky to have friendly neighbours our age although many people looked retired.
The staff was helpful and available at all hours. They speak quite good English too.
The location was surprisingly good as we expected a massive walk to the beach however it takes less than ten mins to get to the beach and you pass lots of restaurants and shops on the way.
The apartment also comes with utensils and cups/bowls/pans to allow you to cook there is also a good fridge/ toaster/mini oven and hob.

| said: On our arrival we refused to check in just by looking at the apartment block you could tell it was going to be bad inside. Thompson were no help to us and we were forced to check in as the whole resort of benidorm was full.
The room was dirty we had it cleaned but it was of a poor standard. There were broken plug sockets, dirty linen, kitchen utensils were dirty never cooked in the room well you wouldn't want to if you had seen it.
The staff were neither pleasant nor rude probably as we were a family, these apartments are geared towards younger kids who just want a place to sleep,a family would find it unacceptable.
There is no air conditioning in the rooms and you have to leave your balcony doors open which was still insufficient at 70 to 80 degrees at night and in the 90 s in the day.
We stayed out of these rooms as much as possible only came in to sleep well that's a laugh as it was full of younger kids there was a lot of noise, urinating over balconys and throwing each other in and out of the pool.
These apartments are probably okay for teenagers but not for family's we would not stop there again if you paid us.
The location of the apartments is such that you tene to stick to one road to get there which was a bit boring going past the same shops everyday and because we did not want to go back to the apartment most of the hoiday was spent walking around.
There is alot of building work going on at the moment and there are cranes everwhere but at least they dont work on saturdays and sundays.
At the time of year we went it was also the spanish holidays and it was full of spanish people which sounds stupids as you are in spain but its usually full of brits, the spanish workers in benidorm were nice, shops, restaurants etc, but the spanish on holiday are horrible arrogant people who definately do not like the brits.

| said: Considering we only payed about £250 each for a weeks holiday in august, inclusing flights, i'd say the lux mar apartmenets were pretty fab.
Before going on holiday I had read reviews about Lux Mar and was worried to say the least. However, there really is nothing too bad about the place.
Situated near enough to the shops and bars to walk (even in heels!), but far enough away from the traffic and noise, the Lux Mar apartments are perfect for a group of friends looking for a cheap holiday in the sun.
The staff, although not very talkative, were helpful and friendly enough, and although I can understand why they may treat a group of drunken, mouthy lads slightly differently, if you respect them and their apartments there really is no problem.
There are pool tables, sofas, a TV and bar (which, like all the other bars in Benidorm, serves crazy amounts of alcohol for a few quid). Reception is open 24 hours, so it's fine to stumble in at 6 in the morning and ask for your room key.
Overall our whole group thought Lux Mar was fine and great value for money. The rooms were clean and the balconies bigger than many of the more expensive surrounding hotels.
I'd definately recommend Jokers as one of the best bars in Benidorm, although any of the ones in The Square are okay and give free shots upon enty (great for lightweights like me). Also Country Ribs is a great place to eat, but there are tonnes of restaurants to choose from, all within 5 minutes of Lux Mar.
ALSO, the doors are MEANT to lock only if you use the key, you can't simply push them closed. This prevents people from simply shutting the doors and forgetting to lock them. So if you get there are your door swings open and you have terrifying visions of your door getting kicked down in the middle of the night (like we did), don't worry, just lock it with the key - it's supposed to be like that!

| said: Benidorm And Lux Mar appartements.....
In all 11 of us went on holiday all aged 18-25. 8 stayed in the lux mar, and other 3 in the flamingo playa.
On the 1st night we were all pretty drunk, as you do. 2 of the guys decided to go home, and on their way 6 spanish got out of a car and battered them with baseball bats, stole money, phone watches etc. The police came and said they were just drunk and to move or they would be put in jail. Due to this 2 of the group decided that after 24 hours, they were going home. leaving 9 of us.
Also on the first night, another person got his wallet stolen, and another guy got his phone stolen. Reported to police, who didn't care one bit.
On the saturday night I decided to stay in the appartement. leaving the other 8 guys to go out at night. That night I slept on the balcony as it was hot. And was woken up at about 4am by one of the boys shouting my name, when i was asleep the door had been kicked in and was lying open. I had slept through this. (somehow) and i was sober ! When the rest of the boys got back, we went down to the reception of the lux mar, and told of what had happened, nothing had been stolen. The guy at reception got the security guard to come up and look at the door.
Next morning we went down to reception, and talked to the rep and staff at lux mar. We were asked to pay 370 euros for a new door or leave as they thought it was us who had kicked the door down, due to me having a key in the door, and the other boy getting one at reception on his way up.
As we knew none of us kicked it in, we refused to pay. The rep was very very poor in helping us, siding with the hotel staff. So 4 of us left to stay at the flamingo playa for 2 nights. Leaving 2 other guys in a different room in lux mar. We couldn't have stayed with them, as the staff said they would call the police.
So... The door situation. The theory we came up with is that someone at the luxmar staff kicked the door in. To get money out of us. (the door wasn't staying closed when we got there) To buy a new door and to make a bit of a profit, including our 120euro deposit. I mean £250 for a new plywood door, i dont think so ! When we suggested this to the rep he started laughing as did the staff, a sort of nervous laugh. They stole nothing, so we coulnt report to police. When the other 2 boys were leaving, same thing happened, a floor above got their door kicked in, same story.
This could be a scam with the hotel, and the rep could be in on it. So my advice is that if you have a dodgey door, be very cautious. The staff at this hotel are very arrogant and had no respect at all for us, or british.
I would not reccomend this hotel to any brits. They will try to make money out of you. They and the police, sided with a spanish guy who attacked a british man and his son at the pool.
Benidorm is a cheap and tacky place, we may of well have went to Basra, it is rough. Especially in August when it is the Spanish holidays. You DON'T want to be there.
none of us will be back in Benidorm and WILL NOT be back at the Lux Mar or any other Freestyle Holiday.
If this has happened to you, please tell of details on this board.
Cheers

| said: Hi, I just got back from Benidorm and stayed at the Lux Mar apartments. I thoroughly enjoyed Benidorm, however the Lux Mar apartments were a huge disappointment. The staff were extremely unhelpful and very rude, and treated the group that I travelled with, with very little respect.
The staff sent a complaint to our room regarding a loud level of noise at midnight, when we went down to reception to explain that we were not in the apartment until 1.30am and we knew who it was as they were still shouting at 3am, they refused to listen to us and walked away.
On the first night one of the rooms had a leak in the kitchen which was begining to get progressively worse, we asked the staff to come and sort it out on the first night, and they promised someone would be round to sort it out in the morning. Nobody came the next day, and we continued to request the leak was sorted it wasn't until the 4th day it was looked at.
The fact that we were all 18 may have been why the staff were so disrespectful, but we respected the property, aswell as other people staying at the hotel, we never shouted from the balcony which alot of people staying there did until the early hours, and I feel we did not deserve the treatment we recieved.
I would not recommend these apartments to anyone, especially families. The hotel has a * rating of 3, I wouldn't even give it 1. The apartments were very basic, our balcony was bigger than our apartments! We stayed there for a totel of a week, and our sheets werent changed once, but we did recieve clean towels twice a week.
I do recommend Benidorm, Terra Mitica and Aqualandia are great fun for teens and families alike. The beach is fantasic and the resturants are very good too. I suggest everyone goes to Tony Roma's which has amazing american food and huge portions, definately value for money!! Our group also really enjoyed Jokers, a british club/bar, which had great music and 2 for one on certain drinks until 2am.
Overall Benidorm is fantastic, the only disappointment was the terrible service at the Lux Mar apartments.

It is quite close to the beach and nightlife but there's still a bit of a walk involved which was a bit annoying. The walk isn't too far though you do notice it when you're 'walking' in heels and dying for a drink! Overall though, great accommodation!

Rooms were large and clean with a large balcony to go with it. The pool was only small compared with the number of rooms and be prepared for having to pay for the use of sun longers (although the chairs are free!!!!!!) The staff were extremely nice and friendly and the bar is open till late. There is no entertainment in this hotel but with the pubs and clubs in the surrounding area you dont need it. Also only a short walk from the nearest McDonalds and Burger King. The hotel is also within walking distance of the Waterpark and Mundomar with a English Cinema accross the Road. The Union Jack pub situated around the corner from the hotel does a superb English Breakfast for only four euros. All in all a brilliant holiday!!!!!!!!

| said: When me and my friend arrived to book in which was about 10 am we were very tired we did not care what the hotel looked like we just wanted a couple houres sleep.
We booked in with the friendly manager and went straight to our room. It was very basic but we loved it as it was what we needed as we only wanted it for sleep.
We found out that when we woke up and went down to the pool that it was very much for people who wanted to have fun and drink as much as what you wanted (for a price.
There were a lot of lads on stag nites and just one group of girls on their hen nite so not suprisingly the ladies had their bikini tops off.
I found the staff very helpful and the cheese and ham toasties gorgeous.
If you want English grub then go and visit the Queen Mary it does the best breakfast in Benidorm - just up the same road as Mcdonalds, also it does the niciest chiken tikka half and half (chips and rice).
It is only just about a 10 minute walk to the square. If during the day you fancy some kareoke go to the Palladium.

Wouldn't recommend stayin here unless it was a last resort.
