| said: My wife and I stayed at the Mandalin in July for 14 nights and found it to be very good, the rooms are neat and clean with a mini bar fridge, plenty of plug points, and the balcony doors have a outer mesh screen so you can keep the glass door open and not have mosquitoes getting in, the air conditioning is £3 per night (free if you book direct with the hotel) but you certainly need it in July. The shower room has a hairdryer and plenty of hot water and the towels were changed daily. The pool area was well kept with plenty of sun beds but there was only one parasol, a tree provided the rest of the shade which overhangs the pool .In July they seemed to get a lot of Turkish people staying but they tend to go down to the beach so there never was any rush to save a sun bed, the breakfast was Turkish but you could get a English breakfast for £1.50 across the street, any request we made was attended to straight away though they did not say much(I think it was because they don’t speak much English).Regarding the issue of security there are periods when there is nobody behind the desk where the security boxes are but there is usually somebody sat out side and the boxes are in plain view, the locking catches on the balcony doors are quiet stiff and you have to make sure they are fully engaged.
Icmeler has something for everyone, plenty of restaurants.bars ,music bars ,these can get quiet loud but the music is turned very low at midnight. It is also quiet compact so you never have far to walk which is a good job in July as it is very hot.Mamaris is a short dolmuch ride away or you can walk to it on the seafront .
Turunch is worth a visit; you can go over the mountain by dolmuch 5Lire,or by water taxi 7.5Lire

| said: We have had vacations at the Mandalin for some 6 years now twice per year. I was in the process of looking to book again for this year 2008 but I am very surprised to find that Jetsun being the only company that do package holidays in this hotel have decided to increase there prices to an unafordable level.
It is far cheaper to book your flight then your hotel accomadation seperate but having read the report about the theft of some money I think it may be wise to give this a miss. We did notice that from our experiance that the noise and the changing clientele in the resort is changing to be a bit like Marmaris, loud and boisterous.

| said: My report of the Mandalin Hotel – Don’t stay there if you want to be safe whilst you’re on Holiday!!
We’ve just got back from a 2 week holiday to Icmeler and on the 3rd night that we were there whilst staying at the Mandalin we were robbed. There was me & my Fiance, my parent’s, my grandparents, and my Fiance’s grandparents and to save money we had one safe between the 8 of us.
Someone entered my parent’s room while they were asleep and took my mums handbag, my dads bag, a camcorder and other important valuables. We found out that they had entered through the room door with the spare key from behind the reception. In my dad’s bag was our safe key and the person who robbed us used that and the master key which was taken from behind the unattended reception desk to enable him to get into the safe. In the safe was just under £2000 which was almost all of our spending money, passports, bank cards, driving licenses and flight tickets, all of this was taken.
Later that morning my mum got a phone call from the bank to say that most of the cards that were stolen had been found in Marmaris at the Club Green Nature Hotel. On the way to the police station to make the crime reports we called at the hotel in Marmaris and met the person who’d cancelled all the cards for us. He was an English guy and had seen the hotel security guard at the hotel in Marmaris with purses and noticed that there were banks cards in them and so he’d phoned all of the banks in England to cancel the cards for us.
After talking to people in the resort we’ve worked out that what had happened was that a Turkish man and woman had booked in the hotel for one night on the Sunday (we remember seeing them around the swimming pool and thinking what an odd couple they made) then whilst my parent’s were asleep in bed he goes down to the unattended reception desk, whilst his partner is chatting up the security guard outside to keep him distracted, takes the spare room key which is left in a draw behind reception (the draw isn’t even locked so anyone could help themselves to the keys!!) He then goes up to my parent’s bedroom with the key and lets him self in. We then think that the man sprayed the bedroom with some kind of drug to make sure that my parent’s would stay asleep whilst he’s in there getting the things that he wants and he also gets the safe key which was in my dad’s bag. The burgler had to go right up next to my dad’s head to get his wedding ring and expensive watch. He then left the room closing the door behind him and went down to reception to open our safe with the two keys taking everything. Everybody including the police suspected the Turkish couple must have been tipped off by someone in the hotel. We were asked to be moved as we didn’t feel safe there and had two sleepless nights even though we had the wardrobe behind the door.
The Hotel manager was trying to say that we had made it up and that it wasn’t their fault or that we had planned it. The police didn’t seem bothered either. We were disgusted and it ruined our holiday.
Out of the 4 bedrooms that we had between my family travelling 3 of them had balconies that didn't lock and as the apartment block wasn't particulary high rise it would have been quite easy for someone to climb up. Also spare room keys are kept at reception in draws with no locks on as well as the master safe key which is required alongside your own safe key to get into the safe. Both of these were readily available to the person wanting to break into my parents bedroom.
Anyway for anyone planning on travelling to this hotel good luck with your stay and hope you have a good time but just be wary especially about your room and safe.
The only good point about the holiday was the fact that the travel rep from Jetsun was fantastic and really worked hard to make sure that we were seen to relatively quickly at the police station and also got us moved to a different hotel at no extra cost. I would definately recommend Jetsun for future holidays.

The standards are very good and a warm friendly atmosphere amongst guests where the majority have also stayed here many times. The Family run Staff are really excellent and try everything to ensure your stay is enjoyed.

| said: We have been to this hotel twice this year.
Breakfast excellent out by the pool but everything covered over and clean.
Room spotless. Hotel areas spotless. Owners friendly.
Pool Spotless.
The family who run the hotel are paranoid about things being dirty. They even scrub the sunbeds every evening. Ok it is by some noisy bars but it all goes quiet at midnight.
Short walk to the beach 300 yards and your swimming to Marmaris
This is our forth visit to Icmeler in two years it's our friends 12th. Stayed at the Blue Rainbow and Siesta both good but this is better.

| said: Good basic hotel, owners friendly. Turkish style buffet breakfast plentiful and clean. Decent fridge in room - wonderful!
Major downside for us was the loudest bar in town in the street opposite. Not a problem for you if you take the air-con option, and there's a midnight curfew anway. Otherwise would give it a 5 for location, literally 100m from the beach (but see our dislike for Icmeler beach!)
Would stay there again if visiting Icmeler.

| said: My wife and I and My family have been to Icmeler on several occasions and stayed in accommodation varying from self catering to All inclusive. We have found that bed and breakfast especially at the Hotel Mandalin to be the best way to enjoy our holiday.
The Mandalin is a small hotel, run by a lovely friendly family. The rooms are spotlessly clean, with a well stocked fridge at low prices.
The hotel is well maintained, and in a fabulous position for the shops, restaurants and (beach, approx 100yards.)
The pool and sun loungers are cleaned meticulously every day.
Breakfast is Turkish style and a 10%discount is available at the two adjoining restaurants, which serves really good meals throughout the day and evening.
We shall be returning to The Mandalin in May or June this year.
