Everyone we spoke to in reception said don't stay in the Relax!! ... This is before we even got the keys to the rooms.

We were originally placed on the top floor - the balcony had a great view, but only if you were over 5' and standing, but you had to stand as there was no furniture to sit on and the door was too narrow to pass a chair through.

Gastroenteritis was going around.

The noisiest Bar in Icmeler is at the side of the Relax, but on the plus side all music stopped at midnight.

Most but not all the staff were miserable.

The reps had a difficult job as complaints were rife.
You bonded well with the other guests in a kind of wartime / faulty towers spirit.

The Relax pool was intimate but too hot. The Delux pool was packed with loud music constantly being played. The Idas pool was OK, but you needed to get your towel on the beds early to ensure a decent place or a bed at all.

There is no way that this can be classed as a 4/5*
A 2/3* at most, so no need for long trousers at dinner.

I would not stay in the Relax again, but may consider the Delux or Idas as this was a cheap holiday, but a 4 hr flight and a 2.5 hr transfer meant losing 2 days of the holiday.

Hotel dirty and smelly.the first room we where allocated was ajoke, the bathroom sink was hanging off the wall, exsposed electric wires in bedroom wall the floors where filthy. The view from the balcony was like looking down on a rubbish tip. After complaining we where moved to avery slightly better room. The food was disgusting, the same thing most days and served cold,we had to eat out. Most of the staff where very rude and unhelpfull.Did not see any entertainment if there was any, stayed away from the place as much as possible,i would never consider going to this hotel again,i will go back to Icmeler.

we stayed in the Relax part of the hotel, bit dispoainted but it seemed clean. on 5th floor lift was dodgie (me and kids got stuck once so walked up and down all week after that) bar is more of smokers hut. all food is over the road at the Delux, entertainment is almost non existant. Food was nice Im a veggie so for me salads were fab. Hotel rep seemed bogged down with complaints and when we went to see her to book a trip her first words were' you'r not going to shout at me are you?'. Two of us used Dr while there which was hiddiously expensive! beware Turkey trots are major problem! ( take medication with you)Air con £25 per room but worth it. Just one channel on TV Russia Today- (which I wouldnt have used if i hadnt have been stuck in my room for 3 days). Transport to and from resort a bit of a rip off comfort break - £3 for a pack of crisps!and you stop at the same place on the way back.

We were told this hotel was a 4-5* hotel. To me wouldnt even rate it a 1* - it was a dump in every way. The decor was ancient, and the rooms were stinking with a very bad smell because we were situated in a room above 3 manholes and we asked to be moved and they wouldnt move us and also been to the rep 4 times complaining but she never acknowleged us once. When we went into the bathroom at anytime of the day, the smell would hve made you sick coming from the sink!!! the toilet did not flush or nothing!! The air con was £25 and didnt even work nor did the fridges in the rooms. The beds and towels were only changed every 2-3 days and there was never toliet roll left at any stage!!!

The food was so boring, chicken, pasta or fish!!! How orignal or what!!! The hotel staff were quite ignorant at times. We didnt have eating facilities in our hotel. We had to walk 200 yards to get to the hotel to get to the resturant that provided the food. We also had to go to this hotel to use the pool, as the pool in the relax was stinking and dirty.

There was no entertaintment in our hotel, we again had to cross the road to the Duleux hotel and at that it was useless!!!! it stopped at 12pm!!.

I WOULD NEVER VISIT TURKEY IN MY LIFE AGAIN NEVER MIND THE HOTEL!!!

Anyone reading this and have a holiday booked for this hotel, I would advise you to change your accomodation asap!!

First of all let me say that the Litera Relax is not formerley the Idas hotel it is what was the Grand Saral..... although now part of the old abacus complex which includes the old park metropole, the grand sara and the idas.

If booking make sure you specify which one you want as most of the guests thought they were going into what was the Idas and ended up in what was the saral.

The hotel was typicaly turkish, very basic but clean. you can use all three hotels for the pool but all meals were taken in the block A which is called the deluxe!!!!.

The pool is on the roof at the relax and although its the quietist of the three is a bit of a pain as you have to go downstairs three flights to the bar.The food by turkish all inclusive standards was pretty good, lots of choice for everyone, gets a bit boring after a while though, but there are plenty of good places to eat if you chose to go out and cheap too.

We have been going to Icmeler for years and all in all it was what we expected for what we paid, please dont go and expect 4 star you will be dissapointed.

The only complaints we had was that in the bars they watered down the spirits which is unnaceptable as far as i am concerned and we have never come across that in turkey before and for the first time in years we met two rude Turks... both bar staff at the deluxe bar.... never ever have i met a rude turk before and it came as a bit of a shock... But ignore them, everyone else makes up for it.

I would stay here again if only for the soft drinks through the day as the heat is a killer, just come back and we had several days at over 45 degrees....plus its cheaper than self catering... enjoy but dont expect miracles.

I stayed in this hotel last June and am going back next week!!!!! On arrival at the hotel I was horrified!! It looked dark, dingy and dirty!!!!

I really just wanted to turn around and come home again ...... however after being shown to our rooms and overcoming the shock realised that the room was spotless!!!

The only complain that I would have is the decor!!! It was floral and old fashioned and you could see the room was well used!!! Worn fabric on chairs etc. Overall I would not complain about the room though - the air conditioning was fab!!! Could not have survived without it!!!

We stayed in Block B however most nights ate in the metrapol (block A) as the food looked more appetising and they were always bringing fresh bits out. The hotel is right in the resort center - which was excellent for us as we enjoyed the night life.

The hotel is situated next to a really friendly resturant/bar which we spent most of our holiday in!!!! The hotel staff were always polite, very helpful and would do anything you asked!! On our first day we arrived at the pool side around 1pm and there were no sunloungers....... the pool attendant told us to sit in the shade and returned 5 mins later after walking around and finding 3 sunbeds for us.

He also saw my friend looking for an umbrella and 2 minutes later found us one. We gave him a tip of 5 Lira - for the rest of the holiday we did not go to the bar - they would bring us drinks and anything we wanted!!!!

I would advise people to tip the waiters as they appreciate this and work very hard to please you!!! I am going back to the same hotel and am really excited!!!

Will post a comment in 2 weeks to let you know how it went!!!

We stayed at this Hotel All Inclusive for one week, we enjoyed our stay very much. All the staff were very helpful all week, they were very happy and entertaining.

The Abacus Metropol which was part of the complex was over the road, we where told that we could use the facilities in both hotels, we spent approximately 1 hour in the Metropol and both were not impressed by both the staff and residents so we chose to spend our evenings and nights at the pool bar in the Idas which were, both enjoyable and entertaining.

The hotel facillities and Room where both very clean, Room was cleaned thoroughly every day beds were made up with clean sheets every day. The pool was very clean as was the area around it, this also was swept daily.

The food was fine with many varieties daily and through the week with the option to ask for an alternative if there was nothing to suite your taste on the day.

Fresh Pita bread was baled on sight every day before the lunch and evening meal times by the same chef who we got to know very well owing to his pleasant attitude.

The restaurant area both inside and out where cleaned and kept tidy all the time during mealtimes by a number of very busy staff. Neither of us were ill once and this is a first so that counts for something I think.

The location of this hotel was fine within walking distance of the beach, bars, shops, banking facillities and taxi rank. there is a regular bus service that will get you anywhere in the resort area for a mere 1.75 lira.

The Idas had no entertainment as such, you had to cross the road to the Metropol if you wanted hotel entertainment, but to be quite honest The Idas did not need any entertainment as the pleasant and entertaining staff provided enough especially the bar staff (Great Entertainment).

Would We visit this hotel again? This is our first time in Turkey and Yes indeed we would we had a great week and hope to go back soon.

The hotel is tired and needs a major refurbishment.

The food, though plentiful is boring - chicken, salad, pasta with chips does need some variation.

The rooms are basic - definately not 4*. The cleanliness leaves much to be addressed.

The staff are only friendly to young ladies, though they did always speak, they were doing their job and no more.

We had a resident cat on our balcony - 5 floors up. The cats over ran the outside dining area.

We had a major storm during the night and the room next door got flooded to a depth of at least 15 inches of water. This was because an end cap had not been fitted on the guttering and the room got all the water from the roof. Photos available. The staff were hopeless and did not want to know. The Brits moved the old couple into a dry room and the flooded room was ready for occupation by 9.a.m. the next morning! The stench was something to be missed. We had an electrician to repair our electrics damaged by the flood, at midnight the following night.

I will never go back to Turkey.

We stayed in the idas hotel in Icmeler. As said on other reviews this hotel should be rated as two star.

The food was cold and the same thing every day. Bacon only served once a week. Ripped off by reception staff for paying for your all inclusive band.

Warning to parents with teenage daughters, the waiters are too over friendly.

Rooms dirty especially the carpets. Went with goldtrail, never again. Reps non existant. Best to take extra money with you to pay for meals to eat out.

Icmeler itself very nice place, but would not book with the idas or metropol hotel ever again.

Idas hotel hotel ok just it is never a four star hotel any where else it would only be a 2 star plus.

Food very very poor if you like chicken and chips every day well you should be ok because thats all you get and 99 per cent of the time it was cold the only thing that was hot was the plates.

Breakfast cornflakes the same bowl of sugar was used every day after two days it was hard, only small pieces of bread for toast or of cause salad, the tea and coffee all so warm or cold.

Staff: they took all the time to smile or even speak to you.

Rooms: very basic, safe did not work.

Would I return no I would never go back to this hotel again.

A shame really because Icmeler is a very nice place, noise at times but nice.

So if you are thinking about going take some extra money you will need it for your meals out every day.

This was our third visit to Icmeler and unfortunately may be our last. This hotel and its sister hotel The Metropol definitely did not live up to its 4 Star category.

The hotel staff were unfriendly which we found very unusual as in the past we have always found Turkish people very helpful and willing to please.

The rooms were basic but clean. We were amazed that on arrival we had to pay 50 lira for wrist bands. There was no entertainment in the Idas, and although the Metropol did provide a small amount in the evening it was very repetitive.

The food was very poor, cold and repetitive. A lot of the guests, including myself, were ill with upset stomachs for most of our holiday. A majority of guests resorted to eating out to avoid being ill. Goldtrail's rep was very unhelpful.

After reading previous reports we were a bit dubious of the hotel. However on arrival we were pleasantly surprised.

The hotel is very clean, the towels were changed every day and twice in the week we stayed the carpets were cleaned in the room.

The food was fine although it became quite repetitive and could have been warmer. On a few occasions we ate out and were not disappointed.

The hotel is in a great location central to everything going on.

Our room looked onto a bar which is open till 4 and we never heard a thing. We did not have to pay for the air con and we paid for the deposits on the wristbands in lira.

On looking around the resort our pool was of a decent size and we had no problems getting a sun lounger. If you still do not think it is big enough then you can use the sister hotel next door which has a larger pool. Mind you the pool was Baltic when first entering and took a while to get used to.

The staff were very pleasant and always had a "hello"or"how are you".

The entertainment was in the sister hotel but as our trip collided with the world cup we did not partake in going over to see what it was like.

All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Idas and would use it again but on a self catering basis. Nearly forgot if you fancy a Turkish bath there is one downstairs in the hotel. It costs £10 and is an experience in itself.
You are cleaned then exfoliated then massaged before being rinsed then get an aromatherapy massage. It was really relaxing.

This hotel was very clean and after moving over from the sister hotel the Metropol we were pleasantly surprised.

The rooms are more than adequate with mini fridge television and air conditioning all free.

The food could have been warmer but as they say when in Turkey do as the Turkish do. Drinks were plentiful although the all inclusive bar finished at 11pm and not midnight as stated on the internet booking. But if you can't drink enough between 10am and 11pm there is something wrong.

The pool was clean and sunbeds were plentiful, with a lot of guests taking advantage of being able to use both hotels to eat drink and swim.

The entertainment was none existent apart from the usual Turkish night, but there was plenty of bars around with shows on if you could be bothered to find them. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, but there did seem to be a very high and regular turnover of staff so just as you got to know them they were gone, the management did not seem to encourage them to be friendly which is a a shame as it would make such a difference.

All in all an excellent hotel and we would go back for overall value for money on an all inclusive I would say definitely not to be missed.

We stayed at the Idas for 1 week end of May with our two boys (age 7 & 5). Hotel was clean with daily room service.

Food was good for buffet style. Don't expect full english. Breakfast typical Turkish style, boiled eggs, spicy sausage, baked beans, toast, cereals, breads etc. Lunch and dinner always had at least 1 hot meat (Roast lamb, beef, chicken turkey in sauces etc) with rice or chips alternating, and a well presented salad bar and soup. Look out at the pool bar for fresh made turkish pizzas (spicy mince on top..nice with squeeze of lemon juice), pitta breads etc. The deserts were always tasty. As a bonus you can eat at the sister Metropol hotel opposite that sometimes had outside BBQ and kebab on turkish night. Only criticism is not much selection at either hotel of basic food for children.

Entertainment was poor, and staged at the Metropol hotel but we did not expect any when we booked, so not dissapointed. Drink was plentiful.. Efes beer, wine, soft cordials and sodas. No fresh orange was only let down.

To clarify the wrist bands.. Pay the deposit of 22YTL per adult band on arrival, and you get 22YTL back on departure.. Simple. No charge for remote for TV or Aircon.

The pool was small, and the sunbeds did get claimed with towels early on. The metropol pool was larger, and better for children, so we used that one, and the free bar there :-)

For the money, I was satisfied with the hotel, and would stay again.

Absolutely no choice of hot food from the hot food trolley at any meal, especially breakfast, and although we were all inclusive we found the bar staff discourteous and very mean with the spirit measures.

Also no entertainment, except for a very repetetive loud banging noise from the c.d player all day/night.

Good, Clean Hotel, found it ideal for a nice walk to beach and the staff were excellent. The Manager moved us as we were above the disco area, and it was noisy, but any room in any hotel is noisy above disco, he had no problem, and moved us immediate.

The only complaint we had was that the food was too continental, and rubbish breakfast, if you like rice and pasta you ok at this hotel or salad.

I noted the comments below about children that isnt the hotels fault the parents are not controlling them, why should the hotel, whilst we there this week, there were one family only which were mad to say the least, and the hotel manager made them move 3 times to different rooms because of their neighbours, and eventually threw them out.

That I thought was good. Go, but not if you not continental eaters, just go on b and b. otherwise, but no problems this week, and pool lovely and clean and never ever ran out of booze whilst we there.

Excellent value for money although hotel was a bit dated it was very clean. Booked all inclusive board and found the food good , however some of the all inclusive drinks ran out at 10 pm most nights ie. no vodka after 10 pm and even the lager and wine ran out some nights (all inclusive drinks ran until 11 pm).

Anybody using this hotel should be aware that the receptionist/manger asks that you pay a £10 per person deposit for you all inclusive bands and promise to return your £10 (english pounds) on departure. However on departure he returns your money in turkish lira at an inferior exchange rate to the exchange shops/banks.The same applies to your £10 deposits on the tv remote control and the Air conditioning remote. This must be making somebody at the IDAS a few hundered pounds a week so BEWARE.

We also stayed at this hotel like review below.

We have been to Icmeler many many times and had great times but this time nearly put us off for good. The hotel made a mistake like they did the other people with our deposit and were not friendly or helpful at all.

The noise at night until 4 or 5am was unbearable but management were not interested as long as they had money rolling in.

Not a pleasant experience staying here and I would say avoid at all cost.

We have just returned from the Idas hotel and are not happy ! we arrived late due to our flight being delayed and found the hotel would not give us any food or drinks if we didnt pay even though we were on an all inclusive basis. This was only 11pm.

We also were asked to pay a £10 deposit for our wristbands by way of sterling or euro only but when we returned this at midnight when we were checking out for our airport transfer we were given our deposit back in turkish currency (as was every other guest). Under no circumstances would they give it back in sterling which if you work it out at them gaining around 80p on our £10 as compared to the 22ytl they returned to us times 300 guests a week for a whole season ! this earns the hotel quite a substantial sum !

As we had been promised our deposit back in sterling this is a form of fraud and deception on the part of the hotel and is not a nice way of doing buisness or treating their guests . Needless to say last night we along with around 60 other guests left the hotel to go to the airport feeling cheated and very let down !

When we changed our 22ytl back to sterling we recieved £8.30 although this doesnt sound much to loose its the principal we were robbed and lied to ! The food at this hotel is bland for most of the time and although looks quite good , tastes very similar every day no matter what the dish is !

Rooms are cleaned daily but you have to keep reminding them you need shampoo , soap and such or you never get any !. Entertainment is basic , boring and very loud each and every night ! We had a room overlooking bath, no sorry it was a swimming pool (just looks like a bath)and the noise and i mean noise not music went on until around 4 or 5 each morning with many kids around 13, 14 years of age being allowed to consume alcohol freely and causing mayhem without any intervention by hotel staff ! or there parents (that word used loosely)!.

All in all I would rate this a 2 star and not a 4 star and go as far as to say its not that good unless you dont give a hoot what your kids do and dont mind being ripped off. There are many other excellent hotels around the area and the resort is great just beware if you choose to stay at the Idas

This is an excellent hotel to stay in. Excellent food, very clean, nice spacious rooms with TV, fridge, bath and shower, hairdrier, air conditioning (free). Friendly and extremely helpful staff but never pushy. It is in one of the best locations with all the surrounding shops and everyday indoor market (next door), and it is near the bus route and only a short walk from the beach. We would definately stay here again. We have stayed in a few places in Icmeler but this is one of our favourites.

We stayed at the Idas Hotel for 2 weeks and I would recommend this hotel to others.

The Hotel rooms were reasonable size with self controlled air conditioning, a small fridge, hair dyer, TV etc. The hotel rooms were cleaned daily, with fresh towels.

One of our group's room had a fault with one of the lights, however this was dealt with quickly and efficiently by the hotel staff.

The breakfast was a Turkish breakfast with olives, cheese, bread, eggs etc laid out in a buffet style. As we were only B&B we didn't eat at the hotel in the evening as there were so many other restaurant locally, however we did all have lunch next to the pool and I it was really nice, but slightly more expensive then other restaurants.

All of the hotel staff were great and very friendly. While laying by the pool we had constant table service for drinks. The reception / evening staff were also great and on a number of occasions they opened our hotel rooms with the master keys, so not to disturb other members of our group who had already gone to bed.

The Idas Hotel is located on the main street, within easy walking distance of the main restaurants, bars and beach. It is located next to a large variety of shops, which open their shutters from 7am onwards, however, as we used the air conditioning over night and left our bedroom windows shut, so most mornings we didn’t hear anything.

The only downside to the hotel was that the sun beds were very close together, making it difficult to climb on and off and the beds were often reserved early in the morning by other guests.

However saying this the staff around the pool were great and they helped us find beds. They even helped us move some beds around so we could all lay together.

Don't be fooled by the four star rating this hotel barely pass as a three.

The first room we were in stunk of sewers and we asked our rep to come and smell it, we were then moved to a different room. The rooms are very small and basic, the claimed air conditioning is only on at certain times and this can not be altered. We paid extra for Air con but were told we did not need it as could be be put on when ever - this is not the case. It did not even work very well.

The fridge in the room just about cools drinks.

he hotel pool was a nightmare a child's pool approx 8ft x 12ft, sunbeds so close together that you touch arms with the person next to you. A number of broken sunbeds supported by stone and the edge of the pool has a thick black rim of dirt were is not clean.

The reception area is better but not four star standard.

We stayed on B.B basis and had to go out for breakfast on a number of days as we could not face the same thing every day.

The hotel location is good for the resort of Icmeler with easy walking to the the beach and the market on a Wednesday.

The hotel staff however were always helpful and polite.

We stayed for two weeks and did not even know if there was any entertainment.

The Hotel Idas is ideally located in the centre of Icemeler and is 10 min walk from the beach, and 5 mins from many bars & restaurants.

Our room was spacious with TV, Fridge and balcony with view of sea.

We travelled with our teenage daughters who had a smaller room but both were cleaned every day and clean towels were provided on demand, although these were for room use only.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and spoke English.

The pool area was clean however was let down by the placement of sunbeds too close together. This coupled with the usual clamour for beds made the beach the preferred option where sunbeds were readily available for very small cost (approx £2.50 for 2) It was noticeable when several sunbeds were removed from by the hotel pool, the improvement in the room that bathers had.

The breakfast was basic, cheese, bread, fruit, eggs as you would normally expect but it was well presented and fresh. The menu was varied daily. There was an opportunity for guests to have an English breakfast for extra cost. (Local restaurants offered the same for £1.99)

Stayed at the hotel Idas for 2 weeks. This hotel is minging, food warm, staff miserable, top floor rooms like shoe boxes, rubbish, no evening entertainment or day come to that, air conditioning never working all the 2wks we were there and it was 100 degrees.

Never again - do not waste your money if you don`t believe this try it for yourselves. We have just come back 13th Sept 2004.

Good luck. If you go take lots of Diocalm you`ll need it.

Idas hotel is a lovely friendly family hotel. It is in a lovely part of Icmeler.

The rooms are clean and offer everything needed.

The staff are excellent especially with children, they are very friendly and welcoming.

There's a range of food offered for diferent nationalities.

I very much enjoyed staying in this hotel, it was our first visit to Turkey and we were in such a fabulous hotel, we are hoping to visit the same hotel next year. I cannot wait!

One of the worst hotels I've had the "pleasure" of staying in. Upon arrival at 18:30 after travelling for a total of ten hours were told that there was no room for us till 02:00 the next day. We had to put the children in friend’s room so they could get some sleep while the adults stayed up till room was made available.

The waiters and bar staff were OK especially with the kids however the management was surly and arrogant. Nothing in the hotel seemed to work. The aircon made a lot of noise but failed to chill the room at all. The fridge did not work, the TV only picked up 2 channels. The lifts broke down constantly. The mgt would not switch on the aircon in the public areas and even kept turning off the lights. It was like a comedy.

A large proportion of the inmates were from the old Soviet Union and nearly all of them were full inclusive. I don't know if this had any bearing on the food but it mainly consisted of a very basic buffet with hot chicken and stewed veg every night. If you were not fully inclusive you had to pay for drinking water which did not look to good either. It was rank!

Safety was a joke as one local child who was allowed to play in the hotel had thrown a glass at the pool and it took two or three rather irate UK parents to actually get the staff to do anything about it.

I actually complained to the rep and upon departure was presented with a letter from the hotel management stating that I had no complaints. They said that if I did not sign it I would be presented with a bar bill for the "complementary" drinks that I was entitled to. Thoroughly disgusted. Needless to say I told them where they could shove it.

My wife and I first visited Icmeler in September of 2003 after my in-laws had returned raving about the resort and the hotel in particular. We were impressed that we went agin the following year. We have also booked for a third time in September 2004. The Hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk from the beach. This time varies wehn you factor in little chats to all the people you meet here. Yes some do try to get you to eat in their bar/restaurants. If you don't want to just say you are half/full board and they usually back off. They can actually get arrested if they are deemed to be too pushy. The hotel is clean and tidy - but like any hotel at the end of the season the meals can get a little monotonous - but the quality is excellent. We moved rooms both times we have been to be near the rest of our party - which has never been any problem whatsoever. We like the first floor as our son is very young. The management now class us a regulars and have advised us to e-mail them with our room request and it will be ready for us. The staff are first rate and fawn over all children, especially ours as he was only 13 weeks old the last time we went.
